I just bought a 2001 oldsmobile aurora for my teenage son. it drove perfectly for a few days but we went out to start it one morning and it would crank but will not start. it is showing a p0340 code, my brother says it is a camshaft sensor problem. would this cause it not to start? i am hoping we dont have other problems like a timing belt...any help out there?

A tune up might be in order. By tune up I mean spark plugs, Distrubtor cap and rotor button and plug wires. I would also check the timing and replace the fuel filter.

Call autozone and ask them to define the codes for ya then get with your mechanic and get em fixed.

I had the same problem with my 96 Aurora. I guarantee it's the fuel pressure regulator. Had mine replaced by GM dealer started like a new car

One item to include in your investigation is OCTANE level of your fuel. You MUST burn the LOWEST for yoru car. Higher octane is less explosive than lower (reverse from what you may think...)
Burning higher octane often causes starting complaints.....
