Why 2002 KIA Sedona won't shift to park

Hi. I see this once in a while. There are different reasons though. Please take a look at a few things. Is the shift selector in the center of the gear selection or does it feel loose and sloppy or stiff and binding? If your shift cable is damaged, stretched or out of adjustment it will affect shift selections. Check out the neutral safety switch. Make sure there are no obstructions. If That all checks out ok. Disconnect the shift cable from the transmission. Now go back into the car and try to select all your shift selections. Does it now go into park? If not, more than likely there is an obstruction (coins) at the floor shifter or it is defective. Note: If the issue involves "Binding" separate the cable from the shifter to isolate the defective component. If the selector does operate normal. There may be an issue inside your transmission. Please let me know if you need anything else. Good Luck.

How to move to neutral when the battery is dead

Nearly all modern cars with a column, console or floor-mounted shift knob are equiped with a shifter level lock release button. Look for a small hole or plastic plug, usually to the right side of the shift lever or on rare occassions above or below the shift knob. It should be just large enough to stick the ignition key into the hole and push on the release button. While holding the release button with one hand, have foot on the brake or parking brake set and gently bress the shift knob button and move to neutral. I spent two years working for ADT Automotive at Mid-America Auto Auction and out of over a quarter million automatic transmision cars I have seen, nearly all have this feature.

I was told that my parking brake on my 2002 Kia Sedona is not engaging properly, though there is good tension on the line. I've replaced the rear drum brake pads, and adjusted the parking brake cable that...

Cable may be seizing in the sheath due to corrosion. Remove the drums to see if shoes move outward when someone pulls the lever. If not, remove the cables from the shoes, raise the ends, and shoot oil into the sheath. Break the cable loose inside the sheath and continue oiling until the cable moves freely in the sheath.

FINDING THE LOCTION OF INPUT SPEED SENSOR ON KIA

The speed sensor is located on the right side facing the driver side. It is on the transmission under the air filter and air line that leads to the intake manifold. It is on the left side of the transmission. It is not on top of the transmission but on the left side of the transmission close to the firewall. It is best to raise the car and locate it from underneath.

Speedometer problem on kia sedona 2002

in newer model vehicles the speedometer is not cable operated but is electronically controled so either there is a loose connection going to the sending unit located on the transmission, a faulty sending unit itself, or the speedometer cluster in the dash is the problem. check the connection on the sending unit look for corrossion or a broken connector. if this is not the problem, take it to a shop and have a mechanic replace the sending unit or speedometer cluster.
