My ABS light came on, what does that mean?

I have a 2000 plymouth voyager and I don't know where my manual is. It started snowing today and all the sudden the ABS light came on. Do I need to go get something repaired? I don't have any money if I do, so is this thing serious? Can it wait till I can afford to fix it?

No need to worry, If you need to wait a while to get it fixed it won't make your van unsafe to drive. What more than likely happened is one of your ABS wheel sensors quit working on you. If you know someone with a Snap On Scanner with the ABS reader cartrage, you can find out wich one is not working. Untill then, you can safely drive, just keep in mind if you do slam on your brakes in the snow or ice, they will lock. It would be like driving an older vehicle without ABS. Anyway, no harm will come to you or your van because of the light on.
Hope this helps!

Why does my abs light stay on in my 2000 ply. voyager

In many cases, some dirt or other foreign substance has lodged around one of the ABS sensors. Starting with the front, remove the wheels one at a time and use either compressed air or and mild detergent solution in a sprayer to blow dirt from around the ABS sensors. After each wheel is done, re-check your brakes by starting the van and depressing the brake pedal. If this doesn't solve the problem, you have either a wire disconnected or broken to one of the ABS sensors, or a sensor is bad. You can take the van to one of the larger auto parts stores, and they will likely connect a code scanner to see if an ABS error code was set. If so, this code should determine which wheel is causing the light to come on. At that point, you'll have to decide whether to buy the parts recommended by the parts store to do your own repairs, or take it to a professional.

My 1998 plymouth voyager came with abs brake system, can I change it over to manual brakes? If so what is the best way to do this?

To answer specifically, this kindof already happens if your ABS system is not working. When the ABS system is not working your brakes should go into a "manual mode". You could have the ABS unit removed and new brake lines installed, but for a 1998 voyager, I wouldn't bother. Keep in mind though, you don't have anti-lock anymore. So drive this vehicle accordingly. Don't slam on the brakes and be ready to ease up on them if they should cause the tires to slip.

1998 Plymouth Grand Voyager.........Dashboard instruments quit working and don't light up. Speedo, tach, fuel gauge, temp gauge, and mileage indicators and lights for same stopped working. ABS...

You have some wiring problems shorting out that is coming from the dash board so if you or anyone you know how to use a multimeter to check the wireing harnesses plus check any connectors that might be just very touching the connector of dashboard which means a bad connection to dashboard.

Abs light is on?

It either means your ABS is active or there is a problem with abs. If you have trouble braking, you should probably get your ABS checked.

I have a 1994 plymouth voyager Check engine light

The "check engine" light on the older models don't tell you things like "change oil, or check oil, or many other tings talking cars do today.

It could mean anything from one cylinder isn't firing well, (and that itself could be a plug, or broken wire), or it could mean that your low on coolant, or any number of things.

The best thing to do is take your vehicle to the dealer and ask the to run a computer code check..SOME garages charge a nominal fee, and some don't charge at all.

Depending on hw much you value your vehicle will depend on what you do. Checking the warning light now could save you big bucks later, or if you aren't concerned if the vehicle quits on you unexpectedly just ignore it. That's the choices, as limited as they are.

I hope this helps you some.

Fixing brakes

Try bleading the brakes, sounds like you have in them. Than the ABS light should go out & you shouldn't have to worry about the fuses.
