Hi....I feel the steering wheel gets little vibrations at 65MPH and also interestingly I dont find this problem when I drive at same speed on high ways...however I am not able to guess when this problem is causing...I guess this would be wheel balancing issue...
Can you please advice how important to fix this issue...it causes any further wheel shaking and damage further...thanks
It depends how bad its vibrating yes it does req rebalancing the longer you leave this more components will wear to like track rod ends, uneven tyre wear caused by tracking issues if money is tight at the moment you could try swapping front wheels with rear if you have two trolley jacks & tyres have decent tread hope that sheds some light onto situation.
My 2003 Santa Fe was vibrating at around 65 to 70 mph also. I had a few good mechanics check it and they both said it was the center drive shaft support and bearing. I called the dealership and they told me it was $1,300 just for the part!! Then they want $98 per hour for labor!! My car only has 90,000 miles on it and they told be it was not covered under the 10 year 100,000 mile power train warranty. Nice huh?? Because this is a major safety issue, it should be a re-call!! I will NEVER buy a Hyundai again!!
