it was exactly what we needed to know. i had lost my keys and we couldnt get the ignition cylinder out to make a new set of keys. so finding out we needed the key kept us from tearing up anything. but it cost me a lot more money to get it fixed because i couldnt take the cylinder in myself. 15 dollars if i took it in myself. 100 dollars for them to come out.

You have to have the ignition lock exposed, take the covers off above and below the lock body that holds the cylinder.
Insert the key fully into the keyway, and turn it to ACC. On the ignition lock body, press on the "stop pin", that pokes out of the lack body, above where the cylinder is housed. Press on the "stop-pin", and extract the cylinder. If the key can not be turn ed to ACC, the cylinder will not come out.
Thanks for choosing FixYa. Please let me know if this solves your problem.

On second thought, if you give me the VIN, maybe I have the actual code for your lock. You lock guy can cut you a new key if he has the code. Much cheaper. Please advise.

My Toyota tercel my cylinder 1 is on 70 my cylinder 2 is on 50 on compression what the I have to do to fix that

I had more trouble with a Toyota Tercel than any car I have ever owned!

First you can try squirting some of that decoking solution into the cylinders as it will sometimes release the piston rings and make them seal a bit better. If that doesn't work, you would have to remove the engine, cylinder head, remove the crankshaft and pistons, check the rings, replace them and hone the bore. If the car is in good condition, you would re-bore the cylinder bores and put in oversize pistons and rings to match. Good for another 100,000 miles.

Having frightened you with that, it might just be that the valve isn't sealing very well, in which case you remove the head and lap the valves in with grinding paste, or replace that number 2 valve if it is badly burnt.

Keys inside 93" tercel ,but i have a slim jim, cant seem to get it open

locked keys inside, keep spare in wallet, i shave them down
or buy a flat key for pocket, (safe for life)
there are only 3 ways
1: lock smith picks lock.
2: you give him key num, and he cuts one with special tool.
3: break window (slim fails)
4: get one at dealer. they look it up and bingo.
5: drill out lock , and buy new lock.

I have a 93 tercel 4 cylinder running on 3 what do i have to do to make it run on 4 cylinders again and how much will it cost

Replace the cap, rotor, wires , and spark plugs. Unless there is something serious happening with the motor , this should get you up and running again. Should only cost about $50 or so.

Trying to find a key code location for 89 toyota tercel hatchback one key fits all

I did a key code search on a 1993 toyota corolla . The key code was located on the passenger front doors lock cylinder (door lock tumbler). You have to disassemble the door panel and remove the lock cylinder from the door to read the tiny numbers on the lever of the lock cylinder..I would recommend calling your local toyota dealer and confirming it is on the lock cylinder before tearing apart the door....You would have to give them the code to get a new key cut. hope this info helps..
