SOURCE: 2000 chevy silverado z71 check engine light will not go off.

you have to know what the code is that your truck putting out your truck has 4 O2 sensors. the trucks computer is smart and the code will tell you witch one is bad but if you replace just one the next one on the same exhaust pipe will probley go bad so its safe to replace all four. the draw back to replaceing all of them is thay cost about 80 bucks for one ACDelco O2 sensor. It has to be done before it will pass Emissions. not a hard part to change about a 7/8 open end wrench will take it off. have fun.

SOURCE: check engine light on in 2001 subaru outback - car

If the light was flashing when it came on, then it means your engine is misfiring.

A solid light can mean anything from a loose/faulty gas cap to a transmission issue.

This light comes on when the computer detects a fault of some sort in its diagnostic tests. If it keeps detecting this issue, the light will remain on. If the light turns off, then it has detected that the issue may no longer be present.

In order to find out what the exact reason was for your light, You need to have your car computer scanned to retrieve the code that the computer would have stored when the light triggered. Most garages will do this free of charge. The code will tell you what may have caused the light to initially turn on.

SOURCE: 98 Nissan Maxima - Check Engine Light, Knock Sensor

If the car is pinging you will set a knock sensor code.'
This comes from bad gas and running lean., You really need this professionally inspected to rule out the basics. I have seen alot of nissans with the knock sensor code stored but the light is still off.
Fill up the tank with high octane chevron and some techron injector cleaner and clear the light. If it stays off for a couple days then go get it inspected. Even if the code is stored it will still pass as long as the light is still off and the monitors have run.

SOURCE: 2001 dodge durango 4.7liter 4x4 i replaced front

bank 1 sensor 2 is the left downstream sensor (1/2) is located in the exhaust downpipe just after the mini-catalytic convertor, and before the main catalytic convertor. Now the meaning of this is that your not getting any 12+/12- heating on sensor, which means voltage is supplied to heat sensor up. You have a O2 sensor heater relay, but not getting problem with 2/2 sensor tells me you need to check/inspect the wiring for 1/2 sensor, open wiring for 1/2 sensor and inspect

1998 ford ranger 2.5 mass air flow keeps coming up as bad have replaced it 3 times any thoughts

If you've replaced the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor three times and it still keeps coming up as bad, there could be a few other issues at play:

1. **Wiring or Connector Problems**: Check the wiring harness and connector for any signs of damage or corrosion. Poor connections can cause erroneous readings and trigger the MAF sensor code.

2. **Air Intake System**: Inspect the air intake system for leaks, cracks, or loose connections. Any unmetered air entering the engine can disrupt the MAF sensor's readings.

3. **Vacuum Leaks**: Vacuum leaks in the engine can affect the MAF sensor's performance. Inspect vacuum hoses and connections for leaks or damage.

4. **Faulty PCM (Powertrain Control Module)**: In rare cases, the issue could be with the vehicle's computer. A malfunctioning PCM may not be interpreting the MAF sensor data correctly.

5. **Other Sensor Issues**: Problems with other sensors such as the oxygen sensor or throttle position sensor can sometimes trigger MAF sensor-related codes.

Consider having a professional diagnostic done if you're unable to identify the issue yourself, as they can use specialized tools to pinpoint the exact cause of the problem.

2001 Ford Focus. It is running rough and power surges.

Clean Throttle Body (both sides, not just what you can see) and MAF (mass air flow sensor) [spray and shake to dry].

What are the top most common causes for the injectors on a 2001 ford ranger to not fire/mis-fire

1. Fuel (ethanol) clogging
2. Sensor (crankshaft or camshaft) mis-communication...bad sensor or signal to computer
3. Electrical harness (age cracking, corrosion)
4. Fuel filter clogged, not sending proper fuel pressure
5. Fuel pressure too low (fuel pump)

Not necessarily in order...but start with fuel, move to electrical inspection, then sensor...unless you have a CEL code to start with first.

My 2001 Ford Ranger Edge oil pressure gauge has been jumping around all over the place. Took it in today and they said pump needs replacing... and that they had to remove the engine to do so at the tune of...

Your oil pressure gauge works with the oil pressure sensor, which is screwed into the block, to transmit a reading. A faulty oil pressure sensor can cause the reading on the gauge to be erratic. You may have a bad oil pressure sensor. You should also inspect the wires going to the sender to make sure they are not loose, corroded, or shorted. If a new sending unit doesn't work, you can check the oil pressure with a manual pressure gauge. Testing for oil pressure involves fitting the oil pressure gauge with an adapter. Then you will need to determine if you have a gauge problem or an actual oil pressure problem.

I have a 1996 saturn wagon. it failed on omissions for egr. ox sensor and catalyst. I had a new egr.. o2 sensor.. oxygen sesor before catalyst.. drove car on many different drive cycles and over 4-600...

You need to read the codes that your check engine light is showing. Go to Autozone or any place like that and they can read the codes for free. Throwing parts at a car doesn't fix it but finding the source of the problem and then repairing as necessary will allow for better results. Going off the check engine light being on can mean it is anything.

You have two O2 sensors on your car. One just after the head on the header. This is the O2 sensor that tells the PCM what the air/fuel is and the PCM can adjust accordingly. The one BEHIND the catalytic converter (or cat for short) does nothing but tell the PCM that the cat. is working properly. You may be changing the wrong O2 sensor. Also the EGR could be an electrical problem if that is the cause of the emissions failure.

So to review, find out the codes, post back with the codes and everything can go from there.

If it has rear drums, check for a adjustment, also a wheel bearing assembley can cause this,or a bad sensor on one of the wheels.

My truck idling low and spitting gas out exhaust

Hello Charles...I don't know what engine package you have in your ranger the 3.0 or 4.0 litre, but regardless, a diagnostic scan needs to be performed to determine the cause of the problems. Sounds like the Electronic Engine Control (EEC-IV) has stored hard codes. A self test can be performed where Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) are transmitted on the Self Test Output (STO) wire located on the vehicle self test connector. The codes are in the form of timed pulses, and are read by the technician on a scan tool or the CHECK ENGINE light. With the information recieved the proper repairs needed to correct the problem can be determined, other wise you are just guessing.
Good Luck...i hope this helps and will fixya up.
