obviously refers to auto trans , could just need the trans fluid level topping up or even changing , if this does'nt resolve the problem then a more in depth diagnosis would be required at a repair shop as could be the ECU for example but do the fluid checks and go from ther ,keep me posted
Most all of your power steering fluids are basically all the same. But you should also look in your owners manual for recommended fluids and lubrication's for your specific vehicle.
Follow your owners manaul, it has all the services needed according to mileage, of course if you havent been following the book, it doesnt do much good, and you are overdue for Coolant, Trans fluid/ filter, belts, filters, ect. Your car should have a timing chain.
Having owned a trans repair shop years ago, listen and take heed
You ALWAYS change Trans,Power Steering,EVERY THREE YEARS and
NEVER,EVER,EVER go more than 30,000 miles TOTAL,EVER,ON ANY
VEHICLES,or it is a death sentence
The BRAKE FLUID--2 years NEVER,EVER GO MORE THAN 2 Years
You can't really know unless you get the associated code. Some autoparts places will do this for free. Try Autozone or a local alternitive. Then they will tell you what it means or you can research on line.
Unfortunetly most chk ligt issues won't just go away you have to have them deleted.
One sure way to tell, is if your transmission fluid is not cherry red. Its supposed to be a bright red color. If its not, then you should have it flushed out and replaced. Good luck.
