Horn blows when locking/unlocking doors on 2007 avalon

I changed the car battery in my 2007 Avalon and now when I lock or unlock the doors the horn blows. How do I stop the horn blowing when locking/unlocking and get the beep back?

  • Anonymous Aug 06, 2012

Now the 2007 Avalon alarm lights in front and back start blinking when I open any of the car doors. It's like the alarm is activated but the horn doesn't blow.

Also, when I press the alarm button on my remote control, the horn does not blow.

Alarm is programable. May have to take to dealer or possible after market shop. When battery power was lost it lost memory.

We have taken it to a dealer in Atlanta who could not figure out the problem and then left it at the dealer in Brunswick, GA for 4 days and they finally told us that there was an 85% chance that it will be fixed if they replaced the Body ECU (whatever that is!) at a cost of $1000 to us. If it doesn't fix it, we're out $1,000.

SOURCE: Front passenger door lock won't lock/unlock

You need to replace the electric door lock solenoid. The electrical part of the solenoid may be compromised and is not letting the solenoid arm retract or extend to lock/unlock your door.

SOURCE: My 99 Toyota Avalon horn does not make any sound.

save yourself the hassle , buy yourself a momentary 12volt switch drill a nice clean hole on your driversside dash and re-wire your horn to it, all the screwing around you'll do to figure out why toyota makes cheesy horn contacts you could have your problem fixed..

on one side of the switch you should run a wire that is a 12volt switched +
on the other side I would run another side run a new power wire to your horn
leave your horns stock ground and just replace the HOTLINE ..

you could even go as far as installing a la cou ca racha horn to bring back that 70's Lowrider feel lol

Used 1998 Toyota Avalon passenger door lock assembly 1998 Toyota Avalon
passenger door lock assembly
this is the part that surrounds the lock driver side. Car color is green cary, North Carolina 27513
The solenoid or actuator arm for the door lock assembly is probably not working to full spec.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: remoe dont lock or unlock the doors. hazard lights, indicators and horn dont work.

You might have a blowen fuze. I would check that first. If it is blowen and continues to blow after replaceing it, then you have a short somwere in the wiring.

SOURCE: 1999 toyota avalon horn works intermitely

I would suggest to you to have the spiral cable (or 'clockspring') replaced. This is the electrical unit that transfers power to the air bag, the horn and the cruise control.

It is located right under the seering wheel.

Your description of the issue indicates to me that your spiral cable is loose, and making intermittant contact. If the vehicle had an air-bag deployment, this cable-device should have been changed.

1997 toyota avalon will not crank or start horn blowing and lights flashing security light on.

Try unhooking your battery for about ten mins. This might reset your security system. You might also try locking all the doors and then unlocking with the key.

2007 toyota avalon keyremote won't open or lock my doors

1) Check the battery, or replace the battery in the keyless remote transmitter 2) If battery is replace and still a no go, see if the power locks would open and close with the door lock/unlock switch in your car, and if they do, then your remote transmitter needs to be reporgram agian. If not then the power switch is damaged, or fuse blown. If transmitter needs reprogramming, please take it to your nearest dealship and they can do that for you, either free of charge or for a small fee.

Put new battery in car and horn continues to blow

Hi Guest,
If the horn is blowing in pulses,it is probably the anti-theft system. Connect the battery and either lock and unlock the doors with the remote or use the key to lock and unlock the drivers door. This should force it to reset. If this does not work, drop me a line and we can go further. Good luck,Chuck

I am facing a problem in fuel mileage my avalon showing is less..I filled the fuel tank full but it reads maximum 360kms & than start going down while running .I feel with full tank capacity it must...

If the fuel gauge is lowering as you drive, and the fuel is still in the tank, then I would gather that, the fuel gauge sending unit in the fuel tank is not working correctly, and needs to be replaced.Brake repair comes in replacing ,both front, and then both rear. The brake pads are purchased in sets, front set,and rear set. These sets service one axle.To inspect the brake pads, the brake pads will have a sensor, made of steel, that will move closer to the brake rotor as the brake pad has worn down.If the sensor(made of steel)touches the rotor,it will squeal. If it does this,it is time to change the brake pads. The sensor does not always work correctly, and will not squeal,or can not be heard. To look at the brake pads,to see if they are ready to be changed, there will be about a 1/8 inch of pad left, and it is time to do a brake job on that axle.Check both sides, left, and right wheels,if one side is worn more than the other,do the brake job.Removal of the brake pads is a good idea. This way,you can see if there is any cracking in the brake pad itself. This is to be done for the front, and the rear. The front brake pads will where out two,to three times compared to the rear. This would be normal. As respect to the horn sounding upon remote unlock, well,it should be operational, make sure the horn works,I hardly ever use mine,so I would think you would not either, but depending on where you live, right? So if it is not sounding upon key less remote, then The control box may have a bad circuit for that out put.Replacement of the control box might be the thing to do.To install the hardware to do this, would only take wire.Come off the actuator controlling the door lock on the drivers door, and go directly to the horn, you will get a short burst from the horn. The actuator in the door only requires one wire to unlock, and lock the door, this is all you need to sound the horn one time. The short beep beep, would require a delay relay to be installed. I hope this is what you needed as far as information, and if it was at all helpful, please let us know, thank you.
