SOURCE: Chev Cavalier 2003 only one rear turn/brake/hazard light

I have a 2002 Chev Cavalier that had the same exact problem. I replaced the bulb harness (purchased from a chevy dealership for around $5) which was fairly easy to do. I have had zero problems with it since.

SOURCE: 99 Chevy Tahoe... Rear turn signals, brake lights, and hazards

I had this problem, and to be honest, it happened to the left side about a week later...it's the board that the bulbs plug into...it's a very common problem with this model. So popular that you can normally get the socket board off the shelf at a parts store! it's extremely simple to replace, and I replaced all the bulbs at the same time!

2004 trailblazer left and right brake lights are not working but the third brake light in the middle is. What could be the problem?

Could be a bad ground in the brake wiring. If you make a ground from the socket to the frame or body, see if the lights work.

98 chevy lumina Rear window break light works, but rear break lights don't, also right turn don't work?

I can almost 100% guaranty the turn signal switch is the problem. Power for the brake lights starts at the brake switch. power then splits from there and the third brake light gets power directly from the brake switch. Since the turn signal and the brake lights are on the same bulb power for the brake lights is routed through the turn signal switch. the switch depending on what position it is in will allow brake power or turn signal power to there respective left or right brake/turn bulbs.

If you hold your foot on the brake pedal and wiggle the turn signal and or play with the hazard switch the brake lights will almost always intermittently start to work. this will confirm a bad turn signal switch which is pretty common on GM vehicle with this style setup.

The problem is the socket. Remove the bulb and bend the tabs in the socket so they make contact with the bulb. If this doesn't work you will have to replace the socket. A wire is broke and they usually break at or in the plug.

After having my 2006 santa fe serviced at 60000 miles, my cruise control doesn't work. I had it lubed, radiator flush, oil change, brakes checked, timing belt replaced, water pump replaced.

Try checking all of your rear brake lights to see if they are working. If you have a burned out bulb the control cannot complete the circuit and the cruise will not work. Dont forget the third brake light sometimes have more than one bulb in them so check closely to make sure that all bulbs are good.

I just bought NEW bulb for brake light

There aren't separate fuses for the left and right brake lights. So if one side is working and the other isn't you can rule out a fuse. Was the bulb socket corroded at all? Check for power and grounds at the socket by back probing the wires (of course, while having the brakes applied). If you have a good power and ground at the wires, the problem lies in the socket assembly. Should be available from the dealer for about $30 or so. It's also not out of the question to have a bad bulb out of the box. It's rare but just to rule it out, try it in the socket that works.

Good luck.

The brake lights on my 2004 jeep grand cherokee do not work the third light on top works. all the lights work it is just when i hit the brake pedal the brake lights on the left and right do not work . i...

This happened to my jeep cherokee too, but it only happened to the left brake light. I found a forum(can't remember which one) which instructed me to check the contacts. There are 3, 2 are on one side, while 1 is on the other. The one by itself looked as if it had fallen in some, which could have been due to something melting. All I had to do was take a knife, or a small flat head screwdriver, and gently pry it up some so it was the same height as the other 2 contacts. A suggestion was to add a small piece of foil to keep it from falling back in, but I haven't done that. I will if it happens again. As of now, my brake lights are working just fine, and I didn't have to spend any money.
