My son has a Peugeot 206 1.4 HDI which has suddenly begun to lose power, particularly when going up hills. There are no warning lights showing and nobody seems to have a clue as to the cause. The mas airflow sensor has been replaced today but has not resulted in any improvement. If the airflow sensor is disconnected, the performance improves. A few weeks ago the engine coolant needed topping up and has needed more since, if this has any relevance. You can contact my son directly on andy_h91@hot,mail.com
Loss of power turned out to be a hole in high pressure hose to engine fuel pump
What could be the problem here is a cracked head
when a car is running right the water/coolant should not have to be touched.
check to see after running the car for about 1 mins from cold also rev the motor a bit DONT SCEEM THE MOTOR for a diesel rev it to about 2.5rpm turn it off and check if there seems to be water coming from the exhaust if there is you have a cracked head
this is not cheep to fix for my car but get some prices before getting it fixed
with a cracked head depending on how bad it is can do a lot of damage to a motor as water is mixing with the oil and also can start corrosion within the motor
check the oil dip stick as well if it appers to be milky then you do have a cracked head
hope i hepled

I have a Peugeot 206 1.4 xline Petrol. I started having the same problems when going up hill and stopping, the car would not take first gear again when i started moving again. Suddenly the car over heats. when checking the coolant i noticed it is filled with a brown muddy soot. I fear it is an oil leak, but when i checked the motor oil it was clear. Can the motor oil be leaking in 1 direction, or is this gear oil leaking in to the cooling sytem since it is the same system cooling the motor and the gear chamber?
what you have done makes sense,if the airmass (diconnected)makes it go better ,you may have a faulty new one ! was it a bosch one you replaced it with ?
yes you have bad gasket.you can check this by messure the motor compression.also queeze in the watertubes sometimes the oils come out .
yes it can, leak bolt ways.it depent on where gas ket is broken
@ rhmaidan,i have the same problem .Did you get yours sorted out, what was the problem, thanks.
