How to replace the AC hose assembly for a 1994 Olds 88? We have replaced the AC compressor and hose assembly but are unable to tighten the AC hose assembly properly (not tight enough) as the freon leaks out very quickly at that location. Engine block appears to prevent getting the assembly tigher.

SOURCE: Where is the fuel pressure regulator located at in a 94 bravada

My friend, I suggest you go by your local Auto Parts Store and purchase a Haynes Repair Manual on this vehicle. There are many sensors and electronic controls involved with this engine as I'm sure you already know. Any one of these can memic something that "it is not".
If your problem is the Pressure Regulator, it is located inside the "Tunnel Ram" intake manifold along with the multiport fuel injection system.
Now,,, before I went through the trouble and expense of going into the Intake Manifold, I would run the EMC in Diagnostic Mode and see if there are any codes present.

94 olds 88 a/c

no it requires full 12 volts to work the clutch the coolant fans have no connection to the ac system so they will not run until the engine temp requires them to
there is a fan normally in front of the condenser coil that will start as soon as the ac compressor gets power
the ac will not work until there is sufficient charge in the system to activate the low pressure switch
have to ask are you using the right gas as 134A requires all new system( evaporator , condenser , compressor , hoses) as the pressures are very much higher than r12 gas

1994 olds 88 royale A/c wont start or charge 134a

AC clutch has to be energized for the compressor to turn and cool. Check out the thermostat as well as the low pressure cut off switch, relays for proper operation.

If you connect the 12 volts to the hot side of the clutch it should engage - if so that indicates that the issue is caused by some electrical item in line with the circuit that powers the clutch.

Do i need to replace air compressor on 1994 olds 88 if the A/C doesn't work?

First you need to find out why the A/C is not working. If the system is low the compressor will not come on.The system does this so the compressor does not get ruined.Check fuses for the A/C system and make sure there are no blown fuses. You need to know how the system works in order to be able to figure out what you need to fix or replace. If you don`t know how it works you will start replacing parts that are not needed. This can get very costly and you would have paid less if you took it to a repair shop. You also need special tools. The A/C system is under hi pressures and can be dangerous if you disconnect the lines on a system that is under pressure.Getting freon in your eyes will blind you.Hope this helps.Good luck.

!991 Olds 88...can I replace with a shorter serpentine belt?

Unplug wires going to the compressor, and let it freewheel, if it's not noisy in that mode. A/C compressor won't kick in if not connected. A lot less hassle than going the other way.
