Key will not always turn when I first put the key in the ignition. If its cool or cold it may take 45 minutes to a hour to start my car. If its hot enough the key will work right away at times but not guaranteed. If I leave the key in the ignition I hear a few clicks like the key is trying to sync with the car and after the first few clicks it may take 10 to 20 mins for the key to lock into the ignition and be able to turn. And also some times several malfunction warnings come on but not everytime. Also not all components will work in the car like the car is only sending enough voltage to certain components. Any solutions? already changed the battery..
Just some suggestions.
Clean the end of your key and get an earbud and metho/alchol and clean the keyhole sensor.
Change the battery in your key.
Check the charge level on the battery. Recharge.
Check alternator charging.

Hello Haq!
Could it be the key just needs re-coding? maybe you are worrying to much as £177 would be about right as that would need coding etc., Try phoning your local Merc dealer or take the key and V5 to them for coding (Hopefully)
Good Luck!

I have similar problem with wife's B200. Am told it's the neutral/park sendor in the gearbox, which prevents car starting unless in park or neutral. Dealer wants AUD$1200 to remove gearbox to replace faulty switch sensor. Will update this website on repair outcomes.

I have a 2001 C240 with the same issue. I removed the positive battery cable from the battery and kept it off for 30 seconds then replaced it. Everything was reset and the key worked.
