If you mean the engine size, it should be on a tag in front of the radiator. If you talking about an id tag it should be on a small aluminum tag on the drivers side of the engine!

it's a E40D / 4R100 automatic transmission

so you can look for those letters /numbers on the housing just above the trans pan

but 2 sites give you a better & easier ID-ing of the transmission by counting the bolts and looking at the shape of the transmission pan

the aan and mln is the modle it goes to. aan is for sls and the mln is for deville. as long as the conectors are the same thair should be no problems. i changed a 4t60e out of a 95 deville and the id tag was difrent then the replacement transmission id tag and a year later its still driving so . im gonna say ya it should be fine

there are more than one 5 speed gearbox, the gearbox has an id tag on it, u will need to find that tag, suggest you get under the box to see it.

It may or may not have a tag on the side of the transmission case. But, don't worry. You can identify the tranny by the bolt pattern on the tranny oil pan and the shape. Slide under the Explorer and remember the shape of the oil pan and caount the number of bolts in the pan. Or, you can run the VIN number and it will tell you the tranny model your vehicle came with.
