Hope this helps- sounds like someone replaced your timing belt and when they replaced it, they were off by one a tooth or peg on the belt- buy a Haynes manual from Advance Auto parts or go to Advance Auto Parts and look for an OPENED 2003 Ford Focus Haynes. Read the part about installation of timing belts. You DO NOT have to remove the timing belt, just make certain it is correctly lined up with the proper marks. If you are a decent mechanic, you can do this yourself. Unlike cars in the 70's you cannot adjust the timing on today's Vehicles

2003 ford focus codes p0316,p0300,p0302,p0303

I had a similar problem with my '02 Focus. I found the actual wires leading to the harness had broken. From the codes I would say you have lost a good connection with cylinders 2 and 3. My Focus started to hesitate and jump until normal temps were reached. Then it jumped and hesitated all the time. I went to the junk yard and got a replacement wire set for $3. I cut the current ones out and used heat shrink and electrical tape to reconnect the new. Worked like magic.

Here is an excerpt from the code problem below. Good luck

- Ignition coils harness is open or shorted
- Ignition coils circuit poor electrical connection

HAVE TO RESET THE TIMING ON A FORD FOCUS ZETEC SE 1.6 WHERE IS THE CRANK SHAFT LOCATION FOR THE TIMING PIN?

As you look at engine from timing belt side by where the drive shaft runs at back of engine around four inches back there is a small 10mm bolt that goes into the engine block undo this and that is where the pin goes don't forget that the crank pulley gear is free wheeling so make sure you use a new crank bolt and use correct torque setting

My ford focus desiel engine makes a shaking sound when i start up but once its going seems ok

Time to check the pre heat glow plugs . When it's starting from cold the glow plugs heat the cylinders prior to injuction and if one plug is down you will get this type of symptom. A amp draw test on the plugs will determine the problem . But a set of glow plugs will serve you well . Good luck

Timing belt slipped on 2003 1.6 focus need the timing marks

there are no timing marks as such on the focus mate you have to lock the cams with a setting bar (to do this you need to remove the rocker cover and lock the cams with a locking bar)
the crank is locked up by removing a plug behind the oil pump on the back of the engine (the crank needs to be at top dead center on number 1 cylinder and this can be done by removing number 1 spark plug and using a long piece of welding wire or screwdriver, place in to the cylinder and turn over until the piston is at the top)
with the cams locked and the crank locked your engine will be timed up
please let me know if this has been of any help
cheers
big mike :)
