P0725 JEEP Description The Engine Control Module (ECM) monitors the engine speed through the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor with the engine running, and send signal to the Transmission Control Module (TCM).
The code is set when the TCM does not get an engine speed signal from the ECM.
Could be a problem with either computer, the link between the two, or the crank sensor.

Testimonial: "Thanks for you help Stephen. We took it to the dealership today and they are saying it is the PCM Powertran Control Module. How hard would this be to replace ourself. The cost to repair at dealership is almost 1500.00. We have been reading on replacing but some say it has to be flashed and the VIN # put in by the dealer in order for it to run. Is this correct? Is there no way to do this except by dealer? Thanks again for all you help in this matter. :)"

What you have read is more or less correct, the dealer or a garage with a scanner that will access the computer has to flash it after it is installed. I would almost recommend letting the dealer fix it, because if they put that body computer in and it does not take care of the problem, the dealer would be on the hook for whatever it takes to fix it. If you do it, the dealer is off the hook.

The dealer service adviser today was ask if I do this and it is the harness would I have to pay for that to be replaced which is another 1500.00 or would they be responsible to replace this. He told me that I would be responsbile but he trusts what his tech advised which was the pcm. He said that when they shook the harness or tapped on the PCM the car died and I had ask him if it might be a short in the harness. I am now thinking that if the PCM is not the problem...I would be spending more than the car is worth. I was thinking it would be up to them to fix the problem if they were wrong but that is not what I am being told.

They are not going to commit to being responsible without a fight. But legally, if they tell you the problem is X they are on the hook for additional repairs if it turns out the problem is Y. You still pay for X but no more. If you could find a used component for a couple of hundred and do it yourself you would be ahead, but when you get up in the big money I would rather be dealing with a company with big pockets if it goes wrong.

Had 3 codes pop up for a 2008 nissan altima 2.5s

Fault codes rarely cause any drivability related symptoms.
P0740 NISSAN - Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid Circuit Fault
Possible causes
  • Low transmission fluid level
  • Dirty transmission fluid
  • Faulty torque converter clutch solenoid valve
  • Torque converter clutch solenoid valve harness is open or shorted
  • Torque converter clutch solenoid valve circuit poor electrical connection

  • P0826 means there is an issue with a circuit for the up and down switch, usually due to a disabled manual shifter or TCM placed in Limo-in mode.
  • The presence of a stored code P0725 means that the powertrain control module (PCM) has detected a circuit malfunction with the engine speed sensor input signal. The engine speed input sensor is sometimes called the transmission input speed sensor and the input speed sensor. This type of code may be caused by a mechanical problem or an electrical problem

P0725 on 2008 mitsubishi lancer

This code will most likely be caused by the crankshaft sensor or wiring. It is for the engine speed input circuit which gets its info from the crank sensor. I would suspect a faulty crank sensor

P0725 error code. JGC 4.7L. Engine dies after 10 - 15 minutes. Takes about 1 hour before the engine will start again. Instruments are pinned to the left. Check Gauges light is on along with the Key...

check ALL the grounds to the PCM. The main ones are at the starter and the fuse box for the battery... there are others. If this isn't you issue then get a rebuilt PCM for $200 with exchange The rebuilders need the VIN and odometer reading to make it happen for you. (Dealer is a rip-off.)
