You should have the body computer scanned for trouble codes. A basic code reader may not access the body computer.

SOURCE: My stability system and traction

Hello Tip.

All three systems rely on some of the same sensors in order to operate.
In this case most likely is wheel speed sensors. By far the most common problem.
The system will need to be scanned to find out which is the offending one and be repaired.
Not all scan tools have the capability to read ABS systems. Make sure whoever you take it to has this available. Most good shops will have this.
If you have further questions on this, please ask me here, be glad to help.

2008 uplander ABS warning messages

Check your wheel speed sensors for proper operation and for metallic debris, make sure your reluctor ring is in working order and not damaged, if all that appears to be in order, then check it with a diagnostic computer. usually it is a failed WSS (wheel speed sensor) if it is part of a wheel bearing assembly then it is possible you have a failed or failing wheel bearing

2008 Chevrolet Uplander. The car activates abs for no reason and records c0196 trouble code in the abs module.

• An internal fault within the yaw rate sensor/lateral accelerometer, P/N 15189628, may be the first possible cause. • The vehicle stability enhancement system (VSES) electronic brake traction control module See if this info helps

Anything a/c related is best left to a mechanic. You prob have a freon leak somewhere. Try adding a can or 2 to see if that works.
As far as the other lights, they prob just need their recommended servicing.

The service stability light is on

It pertains to just what it says STABILITY. Your vehicle has a system that will sense if you are coming around a curve at about 90 MPH. It will automatically apply a light amount of braking to the proper wheels, thus hopefully eliminating you and your Uplander from flying off curve. With the light on as with any warning light , you must assume whether its real or not, that the STABILITY system IS NOT operating. Significant computer / sensor diagnosis will be necessary. Hope this helps
