Power seat will not go back, seat will move forward but not back. seat is in the the extreme forward position and need to move the seat back to make the vehicle drivable until I can afford a new switch
I was having the same issue on my 2000 Cherokee. I took the two screws off that hold the plastic seat panel in place to get to the wires on the back of the switch. When looking for a cut wire, the seat suddenly started to work (I could get it to move all the way back and all the way forward) There is clearly a loose connection on the seat wiring but in my situation all I wanted to do is return the seat to it's full BACK position. (Which I did). I'll chase the loose connection another day. Hope this helps someone else out in the future. Good luck.

I'm having this same issue, I"m the only one who drives the jeep and its just an extra vehicle, really don't want to put that much money into it if I can just manually move the seat to the furthest back setting.

no manual .but you could maybe tap the motor while someone push on the switch.

Get out your voltmeter, unplug the connection to the seat's motor, underneath the seat, and hit the switch. if youve got power going to the motor then youll need to replace the motor. If not, it's probably the switch. Also make sure the wires are not cut or damaged somewhere between the switch and the seat.

Replacement parts and labor could run $200 + from the dealer.. Yes, a replacement switch can be obtained from a salvage yard, BUT NOT from an auto parts store. It is not difficult to remove old switch and replace
