Had exhaust manifold replaced since then my 2001 caravan bucks and blows black smoke little to no power

Car will accelerate briefly then bog down. Engines seems fine until you drive it. Black smoke coming out tailpipe. Car has 191,000 miles but ran fine up until having the exhaust manifold replaced. The mechanic seems confused.

If you replaced the manifold because it was cracked the look for a plugged cat convertor..the cracked manifold was probably letting the exhaust escape..now it builds too much back pressure

Take it to an Autozone or O'Reillys and they will test the computer for you. It should have set a code, but you don't know if the code light works so its your best bet. Sounds like it is running rich and the crankshaft module is not advancing the timing.

SOURCE: coolant leak

More than likely it is coming from the intake manifold. You can use a pressure tester that hooks to the radiator and use a flashlight and mirror to get a better look at where it is coming from.

SOURCE: Cavalier blowing out black smoke car idles fairly well considerin

Black smoke is usually unburned fuel. P0171 reads bank 1 system too lean. There isn't one answer. You need to dig further and inspect your cars fuel system, from the pump to the injectors. Because of the mileage you may want to start off with a compression test just to see where you stand with the motor. write back if you have any other questions.

Why is my 2001 jeep grand cherokee blowing smoke everytime i am stopped at the red light .

If the smoke is black , the mixture is too rich. If it's white and disappears soon after accelerating, then it's valve stem seals.

Brake loose connection between cat and exhaust manifold , it will allow exhaust gas to go out before cat , and see if it's restore the power on the engine.
If it does then your cat is clogged.
If not it's also might be Throttle Position Sensor , or Mass Air Flow Sensor.
You can't remove cat , you have to replace it if it's bad. Cat is a part of Emission control system.

If you have a lot of black smoke then its over fueling getting to much diesel to the cylinder's. Sounds like an injector problem with the slight knocking noise. Che ck the return pipes are not blocked. If the smoke is dark brown then this is a problem with the valves on the intake manifold which control's the intake of exhaust emmisions.

Black exhaust smoke from Jeep Cherokee 2.5 CRD

The smoke and the the bogging down are due to either too much fuel flow or to too little airflow. Your engine is flooding and running way to rich hence the low fuel mileage. Could be a faulty pump with too high pressure, bad or wrong sized injectors, (assuming they actually fixed the sensor problem) or airflow restriction,

2001 E220 CDI exhaust tail pipe black smoke on acceleration

Black smoke is almost always an indication that the air/ fuel mix (ratio), is too rich. I would try to find out if the just cleaned the injectors or were they replaced. Cleaning injectors and sometimes leave irregularly shaped orifices. Besure the air filter is clean. This can effect mix also.
Good Luck and hope this helps.
