My rpms stay low with good shift in town. But when I give it gas on a highway, my rpms go a lot higher than before. Not shifting until around 4500. The shifts also seem hesitant. My rpms go down like I'm coasting, then it goes right back up, then shifts. What's wrong here?

check your fuel pressure, should be 40lbs+ at idle. If you dont know how to do this, have a friend or a shop check it for you. I had same problem, no power at all would barely run ect,, turned out to be fuel pump.

Here is some possible reasons why your transmission is having those problems .
* The gear shift linkage is binding
* There is an internal problem in the transmission
* The throttle cable is broken or disconnected
* The vacuum modulator on the transmission is faulty or the vacuum line is damaged
* The electronic transmission control circuit may be faulty

Lets all get together and form a class action law suit. This should be a recall. but no body has been killed yet.Our tax dollars get to bail them out so they on keep making defective products.I wounder would they except defective money for there cars.

Cheapest thing to try is a fluid flush and filter change. Unfortunately, if that does not work, then next bet is probably a rebuild.
