I have a 2003 Echo that's making a high pitched squeal when I start driving or stop. Sometimes the squealing can be heard for 5-10 seconds after I stop the car. When I turn off the engine, the noise immediately stops. I know the cv boot is torn. Is it possible that it's related to the cause of the squeal?

When accelerating hard I can hear a squealing noise that seems to be coming from the transmission. It also feels like it is slipping. If I back off the throttle a little it stops.

The noise is most likely the serpentine belt. Check it's condition and that of the belt tensioner. It sounds like the belt is slipping, causing the squealing noise u describe. As the belt warms up, it's getting a better 'grip' and the noise stops. Turning on the heat also turns on the a/c in newer cars, this added drag on the belt (one more component to turn, the a/c compressor) would explain why it happens when u turn on the heat. Is the belt original? If yes, it's time to change it, and check the belt tensioner to make sure it's doing it's job of keeping the belt snug on all the pulleys. Let me know how u make out.

Belt was replaced last year , screech sounds like bearing and is intermittent. Did not start until ac serviced last week. Belt turns and appears to be in good condition.

Probably a belt getting loose or worn. If alternator has a separate one than the rest, try just tightening it up. My guess is that it's probably all one belt with a tensioner pulley, which means you can't tighten, (spring tension already applied by tensioner) you have to change the belt, to get rid of noise, and if noise comes back in short time, think about changing tensioner.

WHAT IS THE LIKELY CAUSED OF A LOUD SQUEALING NOISE COMING FROM THE ALTERNATOR SERPENTINE DRIVE BELT SYSTEM ? IS IT THE ALTERNATOR OR SERPENTINE BELT?

serpentine belt is getting old and hard and the cold weather was causing it to slip
check belt condition ( small cracks across the grooves = scrap and get a new one) and check tension

I have a loud squealing noise upon starting the car. the squealing normally lasts about 30-45 seconds. sometimes the noise will appear aftrer pulling off from a stopped position, as well. all belts

Try to tighten the belts a little firm.Sounds like when engine idling no squelling only when about to take off .Some times belts may seem ok on the outside but if you look on inner side you tend to see cracks in the belts .

Unintended acceleration when the brakes are applied 2001 pathfinder.

Hello and my name is john and i will be helping you to day.

Q.

Occasionally your 2001 pathfinder will accelerate when the brakes are applied. And there is a very loud squealing of the tires with the lunching of the car.

A.

Your pathfinder has a TPS sensor which is your throttle position sensor if this sensor is stuck or bad it will send a MSG to your computer saying that it's not getting enough fuel so it will compensate and cause your engine to rev unusually hi and causing your tire's to chirp also your apm's should jump while doing that you should se a big difference in your gas mileage as well.
