Loss of Power at Freeway Speeds

My 2004 Envoy on the freeway will lose acceleration when it goes into passing gear The RPM indicator shows 4500 RPM and will not exceed that and I am reduced to 55 MPH which takes about 4-5 miles to get back to highway speeds. Its as if the engine bogs down

Sounds like itr is not getting enough fuel. Try or check the fuel filter for dirt or water, and also check the fuel pump pressure to see if it meet factory specs.
Good Luck Jerry

My 2004 mazda b 2300 (105,000 miles) "bucks" when i shift up (usually at about 2000 rpm or less)

The engine may misfire and/or buck while driving at freeway speeds with no fault code stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This can be caused by an intermittent fault with the camshaft synchronizer assembly. This condition can be diagnosed by monitoring knock sensor data as per Ford service bulletin #05-22-12. Replacement of the synchronizer assembly will be required to correct this concern.

My 2006 Ford Ranger is stuck in first gear. I was about to get on the freeway today and as i was accelerating it rev'd up and stayed in first gear. When I turn the engine off and start back up it

Hi Cory, I suggest you take the vehicle for a diagnostic scan. If you have a speed sensor problem as I suspect, it will show on the fault readouts. Regards John

High RPM issues

The overheating could be alot of things. Could be the fan or thermostat or leaking water and on and on. If the tow does not disengage the truck will run in a lower gear causing more gas use.... Hope this helps but just a guess without looking at it.... Good luck

Whats the meaning of (O/D off ) kia spectra 2002 ?

the "O/D OFF" indicator light let's you know that your car is not in over drive. if you are just driving around town at relatively low speeds you probably wont notice a difference whether the button is on or off.but the next time you are driving on the freeway(55+mph) and want a little extra speed(overtaking another vehicle),click that button to the off position and you should hear the car shift into a lower gear which will instantly give your car more torque at a higher rpm to help you complete your pass ie- your cars"passing gear"

I have a 1997 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0 I6 with about 155k miles that is having intermittent issues. I just recently had to replace my muffler because of the car backfiring. This problem doesn't happen...

Have it checked with a computer diagnostics. It sounds like it could be a bad sensor, quite possibly your oxygen sensor. A bad sensor could cause the computer to think your engine needs more fuel.

From what you posted,it may be a few different problems.BUT.The 1st thing I would look at is the cat/converter may be blocked.Hey.It may not be.But look at that before you spend any money on other stuff.I just thought. How is your air filter.Take it out and take the car for a short run and see how it goes. This may show what is wrong.Hope this helps
