These switches are inside the doors attached to the door latch assembles. If you know some one with a scan tool you can go into the body computer and see which one is showing open when all the doors are closed. The most likly one is the drivers side door or the two in the rear gate. I've replaced those the most.If you don't want to replace them you can unplug them and the lights will go off. Hope this helps. If you need more info let me know> Thanks Dan

You need to order an "actuator" and install it, or go to the Ford dealer (or your trusted mechanic) and have the actuator replaced. The actuator is a solenoid that locks an unlocks the door latch. You can do it yourself if you are willing to take your door panel off and slice up your knuckles a bit.

These things have been a source of revenue for Ford for all models for many years. They just wear out too soon under normal use.

Both my 2004 Freestar side door actuators stopped working (intermittently at first) withing 2 months of each other in 2007. I ordered them from Bob Utter Ford (1-800-259-3560), for $42 each plus $9 shipping. See if your Ford dealer can match that before you order.

SOURCE: Power sliding door won't close properly on 2005 Freestar

U will need to buy a can of spray white grease and clean and then lubricate all the tracks the door channels on as well as all the latches for the door, this will cure the issue in most cases, did allot of these while working at a Ford dealer.

SOURCE: where is the low tire reset button located on 2005 ford freestar?

It is on the same button as the Trip Odometer. Cycle through until you see Tire Reset and hold the button down.

SOURCE: Warning bell won't stop sounding

i went thru a considerable amount of relays in my windstar. I would suggest stopping by a junk/recycling/wrecking yard and picking up a handfull of relays for the windstar/freestar. look under the dash in the fuse panel for the relays and replace any in the circuits affected. if you are in luck the relay circuits will be shown on the cover of the fuse panel.

if the problem is the sliding door... there are a row of circular copper contact points on the door jam as it slides shut as well as "fingers" on the door that make contact with them when you close the door. Use an eraser or similar to make sure the contacts are clean.

Do not overlook the relays in the engine compartment near the battery as a cause for some of the issues you are having.

as a side note... i dropped into my local ford dealer and talked nicely to the parts guy.... he gave me a print out of all the fuses/relays and their locations which was a huge help. give that a try.

let me know how you made out.... and take a moment if this was a successful fix to rate this solution.. thanks

Robert

P.S. i was able to manage almost 400,000 kms from my windstar before i sold it. and the only issue it had then was that it would not stay running (a fairly easy fix)

I have a 2005 ford freestar and when I brake at fast speeds or heavily, it makes a beeping sound

Sounds like one of the doors are not closing all the way!
If not closed completely there is not good contact at the switches making it seem like a door is partly open when breaking!
Check all doors for tight close and adjust or repair. Including rear hatch !
Also look at the information center on dash (if still lights up) it should say which "Door is Ajar" when the beeping\lights flashing is occurring.

Location of 2005 ford escape alarm sensor

There are a few sensors and switches that could be making alarm go off, the most common problem is a worn driver door switch,

The best way to test the system and look for the bad component would be with a scan tool this way you can watch the door switches and check there operation and also scan body module for codes , this would need to go to a shop or if you have a scan tool you could connect and set up to body module and watch door switches as you open and close door, using the light is not a good test as there are two to sometimes three door switches on the latch asm. hope this is helpful good day

2005 Freestar "door open signal"

Chances are the autolock doesn't work because it "sees" a door open. Check the plunger between the door and the frame of each door to see if the plunger is broken, bent, or otherwise not working.

Scion tc 2005: door indicator on gauge wont shut off?

check all of your door latches to see if they all work. If there are sensors on the body where the door closes toward the center B PILLAR of the car it has sensors for the doors, then push them in and see which one is bad. Sometimes the door sensors are located in the door actuator which usually goes to the driver;s door due to it's high use.

My passenger's door open indicator is on but the door is closed. Where is the indicator located? 2005 freestar. Thanks

Normal Operation When any door or the liftgate is opened, the ajar switch provides a ground signal to the smart junction box (SJB). When the door or liftgate is closed, the ajar switch opens, removing the ground signal. The SJB uses the multiple inputs from the ajar switches to determine whether the doors or the liftgate are in the open or closed position. The SJB then provides a message to the instrument cluster over the communication network. The message center uses this information to display the door/liftgate ajar message.

I suspect your door switch is not closing all the way.
