My windshield wiper intermittent setting does not work on a 98 toyota camry. The wiper works fine but the intermittent setting will not work. Any suggestion? Thanks
90% of the time, we replace the wiper motor. But, that is predicated by the fact that the wiper motors ALSO does not return to the Park position. First I would look in the fuse box by the driver side and check the fuse,if good then get a meter and see if power is going to wiper motor,if so,then wiper motor is bad,if no power is going to motor, then bad switch, here's a link to see. The windshield wiper/washer switch is part of the Combination Switch Assembly. Refer to Turn Signal/Combination Switch services procedures.
most likely cause is the wiper switch has gone bad and unable to 'time' the intermittent speeds.the intermittent speeds work on a resistor type system where low and high speeds add direct voltage.
Don't really know of the vehicle, but what I am use to is that this could be the switch Since the wipers do work that rules out the motor. But, there could be a fuse or relay that controls that part of the system?
My 98 suburban did the same thing (has intermittent wipers I assume) I had to replace the wiper motor. AutoZone had a rebuilt one for $50. ($279 at dealer for a new one)
Thanks, the wiper does not return to the park position.
