It is not 100,000 miles it should be replaced every 60,000 miles or six years. this is an interference engine, which means if belt skips or breaks.engine damage will occur, piston to valve damage. $$$$$. hope this helps.

Where is timing belt located on my 2002 Pontiac Grand Am

nowhere. it has a timing chain that should last forever as long as you keep your oil in good shape. doesn't matter if you have a 4 cylinder or a v6, they both use chains.

How do i tighten the timing belt on my 1989 pontiac

I assume you are replacing the belt and also the waterpump, the waterpump is what tightens the timing belt, it spins in the housing in an oval shaped housing and tightens or loosens the belt, you need to loosen the waterpump bolts and rotate the pump to tighten the timing belt, make sure theres a small amount of slack in the belt after you tighten it, you dont what the belt too tight, you should be able to grab belt and move in and out an inch. heres a diagram to make sure all timing marks are lined up. note if the timing belt is being replaced you really should install a new waterpump and check the timing pulleys. good day.

Replacing timing belt on a 1991 Pontiac Lemons 1.6L Need the cam & crank index mark locations. Diagram showing the marks would be nice, thank's.

When you have everything taken apart the markings should be on the pulleys and the crank. Do you know what the correct timing is for the engine? If not go buy a Haynes manual and they will have all you need to do the job. Haynes is a lot less expensive then the factory manual. Make sure you drain the oil and anti freeze also, or you will have a mess on your hands.

I have a 1992 pontiac lemans with roughly 84,000 miles on it. It has a 1.6 liter interference engine. A month ago when i was driving it, it died on me. I had someone look at it and they said my timing belt...

You do have valve damage, but engine would not have to be replace, worst case only bent valve would have to be replace, to do this cylinder head will have to be remove to repair.

Locate timing belt tenciner on a 1988 pontiac lemanns

Depends on your engine, the 1.6 Korean engine used the water pump as a tensioner and idler. The 2.0 had separate tensioners. And the V6 had a chain. The tensioners are not hard to find, you need to remove the front covers to get to them. If you are changing the belt and tensioner, I would do the water pump too. You have it open, might as well. Hope this helps.

Symptoms a 1991 acura legend water pump is failing?

The water pump on your vehicle is ran by the timing belt. The timing belt will have to be removed to change the water pump. You have a engine that is classified as interference witch means that it will bend the valves if the timing belt goes out.I would recomend that while you are doing the water pump you should change the timing belt to be on the safe side.
