SOURCE: Vent control

You have a vacuum leak.Defrost is the default postion(no vacuum).
See if you can locate the small black vacuum line that goes inside the vehicle on the passenger side near the heater core. The trace it back, should see it going to a canister then to the intake manifold.Make sure it is not disconnected or broken somewhere.

Sounds like you have a supply vacuum problem. When you lose supply vacuum to the control head it defaults to defrost.

SOURCE: Problem with air not coming out of vents.

Check for a vacum leak from the engine to the a/c.The color of the hose is black. Also check if the heater control valve hose is unplugged. If you have vacuum the it sounds like the door for the vent/floor/defrost is broken.

1998 chevy blazer heater problems. wont switch from defrost to floor. stuck on vents right now. how do I fix this problem.

Most likely either the vent switching mechanism is dirty and won't switch the flaps -or- most likely the vacuum that is used to turn the vent flaps is either leaking and not pulling enough vacuum. You will have to get underneath the dash near the center, to check and see if you can manually move the vent flaps. If so, then most likely it is a vacuum leak in a vacuum line to the flap mechanism.

My ac will not blow alot of air through the vents, although it can be heard like it is pretty high or max.

Sounds like the vent selector is not switching it all the way to the vents. Its probally getting stuck on the floor output or defrost. Is it digital are cable driven? Try turning the fan speed to the lowest setting, switch it to defrost, then back to vent and turn the fan back up to hi.

97 Lumina...Switch stuck on defrost vent and

I had same problem . There is a vacuum resovoir tank located behind the left front splash shield . The vacuum line behind the battery goes to it . I removed two 5/32 screws just in front of the tire that hold the splash shield to the fender , carefully flex the shield away from the fender and take a look . I found the vacuum line had come loose , plugged it back on and everything works . Hope this helps

I HAVE A 2001 DODGE DURRANGO THE DEFROSTER IS NOT BLOWING ANY AIR OUT OF TOP OF DASH BUT SEEMS TO BLOW OUT OK ON ALL VENTS AND FLOOR

it sounds like the switch lever for the vents, floor and defrost is not switching the vent door that goes to the defroster hose. You need to pull the switch consol out loose from the dash and follow the cable for the defrost that goes to the hose for the defrost. You might also have a broke switch that won't pull the cable enough to open the air for the defrost hose.
