The Accent does not incorporate a 'chain' -- it used a Timing Belt.

SOURCE: We need to know where the cam timing marks go on a

Hi

The cam dowel should be at 12:00. the hole in the cam sprocket should be line up with the cam dowel, with cam sprocket assembled to cam, you will see looking through the cam sprocket a red marking on the head, which lines up with the dowel. Down at the crank, make sure the cut out mark on the crank spocket is lined up with the notch on the oil pump cover.

Thanks for using FixYa - Steve

SOURCE: Replacing the cylinder head on

Here's what the shop manual states:

30 Nm (300 kg.cm, 22 lb.ft)+90°+Release all bolts + 30 Nm(300kg.cm, 22 lb.ft)+90° In this instance you don't have a 'Torque to Spec"... you have a "torque to YIELD' In this specification, initially torque the head bolts to 22 lb ft... then turn each and additional 90°, then loosen each and REDO to the same specification = 22 lb.ft)+90° (you're actually crushing the head gasket TWICE and stretching the head bolts TWICE.

there isnt marks!the cam pulleys have do nothing with timing!remove the valve cover and see in the other end of the camshafts and find two eccentric cuts!turn the crankshaft to the top dead point on the cylinder 1 the two cuts must be in the same line on the upper or lower side.you need aspecial tool to lock the camshafts and another to lock the crankshaft!this is the timing procedure!now you can change anything you want!note!the cam pulleys are conejointed to the camshafts!no marks no pins no safe pins etc.isnt difficult but complicated simple!

1995 Toyota fourrunner v6 two over head cams thanks ahead of time I just replaced the heads with new ones properly but have a question before I put the heads on I put the motor on top dead center as I am...

If your valve timming is correct the valve should not contact the piston, and upon fitting the camshaft some valves are bound to get openned. That should not worry you, before you crank start it or after installing the T-Belt and adjusting it, rotate the engine manually 360 degrees to make sure tht it does turn all the way and you can also check if the timming is right by following the valves openning and shutting at different stroke on the cylinders..the firing order should 1-3-4-2.
Hope this helps!

Replaced water pump and now i need to know how to reset timing

I hop you are replacing the belt and tensioner/ idler pulleys. the crank pulley has a notch approx 12'oclock. the cams will be marked rear cam "I" and front cam "E" .. put both letters at 12 o clock. there should be a notch at the top of the cover for the cams at 12 o clock. thats all there is to it. to tension the belt, after you have it all timed up. put some tension on it, tighten tensioner bolt, turn the engine 2 revolutions, then double check your marks, push down with you thumb between the cam sprokets with 20 lbs of force, the belt should delfect about 10MM if its too loose, loosen the tensione rbolt an dturn it tighter a little more an dck tension again. If you get it too tight it will whine and wear the cam journals, too loose and timing will not be correct.

I need a diagram to sincronize the timing belt of my isuzu tropper 3.2 sohc

if this is 6VD1 engine it has single cam gear each head, but is still a 2 cams per head, engine
if belt has broke or you have turned any gear you must remove rocker covers to check positions of camshafts front lobes are in certain spot as well as timming mark on belt driven cam gear to cover
this cam gear is a 3:1 ratio (3 turns of cam gear = 1 turn of cams)
