After the olympic torcjh passed thrrough my street last night I have been left with my wong mirror hanging off. It is a 2001 Ford Fiesta and the mirror is still attached to the car with the wires. Nothing is broken, the clips are still there. Is it possible to just push the mirror back on or do I need to remove something to refix it? I can't seem to get the clips in the holes without it coming out currently but is it a case of using considerable force? Basically there are no broken parts, its just come out. Thanks.

A mate of mine had a similar problem and he said he got in touch with a place called wingmirrorman.co.uk, They sorted out the bits he needed as he didn't have to replace the whole thing.

hi there the easiest way is to remove the lower black cover 2xscrews then with aplastic spreader locate the 2 tabs that hold black cover to mirror cover and press them in and pull black cover down then with a small pry tool carefully prise mirror glass out and disconect wires this will reveal the small single screw that holds the cover to the mirror unit remove this and the rest should be self explaned hope this helps..

on the inside of car remove plastic triangle then you will find 3 screws remove these and refit

Check at a breakers yard you may be able to find a suitable replacement with mirror intact for less than a new on can be had. Or check a glass shop to see if they can cut a replacement to the size you require.

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls. Then you can access the bolts that secure the mirror onto the door

thanks, however the glass is fine, the wires are fine it is just that the whole mirror part (including the plastic casing) has come away from the arm/bracket. There are bits I can try to line it up with but each time I do this it appears to be marking the plastric inside and it looks as if it wont 'pop' back into place - I cant seem to find a youtube video for just re-fixing that, rather than replacing the glass or the entire unit!
