SOURCE: my key is stuck in the ignition on my 97 Saab 900.

Some Saabs lock the gearlever in reverse as a security measure, and won't let you take the key out until reverse is selected.

Does the key still pop the trunk/hatch? That would also indicate whether or not it was the key remote. If that function works it's probably nothing on the car (i.e. "receiver") end.

There is a very good SAAB forum that would likely be the best place to find out if somebody has has this issue before and what they have done: www.saabcentral.com

Most likely you have a bad TWICE unit. it is located under the driver's seat, at a low point in the floor and often gets wet.

3what is fob to p ress 5 times what is the fob

Key fob is the Smart Key with 3 buttons and no external key for 9-3 from 2003 on.

It does have a blade-type key inside to use to open door in case of remote - central locking system not working.

My 2004 saab s3's remote key wont unlock my car

Two possible solutions for you
1- Change the battery in the key fob, if this battery is over a year old then it might be time. If this doesn't work then
2- Take the car into a Saab dealer and have the receiver reprogrammed. They do on occasion get misaligned and end up locking out the remote or remotes depending on how many you have.
Hope this helps.

I cant get the central locking to work on a saab 9 3 2003 model. i replaced the battery. It made no diffrence.cant find a fuse on the car for it.

Take the battery out of the key fob and stand close to the car, or sit inside, and put the new battery back in and try it....you need to be close to the car so the security unit picks up the signal from the key fob. Good luck

Key thob has stopped working, I have changed the battery but still broke, I am looking for the fuse for the central locking but cannot find it, saab 9-3 linear 2003

Saab's have very specific steps that you must follow when you change the batteries in your key fob. You might try these steps to re-sync your key fob to your security system....

If the battery has been changed outside the
car and the car is locked, proceed as follows:
1 Unlock the front left door with the traditional
key. If the car has a car alarm, this
will be tripped.
2 Open the door and insert the remote
control into the ignition switch. If the car
has a car alarm, this will be silenced.
The remote control and receiver unit are
now synchronized.

Central locking using key fob not opening' have to use key to open car.changed the battery in the key fob still not operatingthe central locking

Was it working before and it just stoped working? Either its not programed to the vehicle or the unlock button is bad. the buttons do wear out over time.

Key fob lights up but doesn't work even with a new battery

I'm more familiar with Range Rovers and Saab's when it comes to key fobs but if you changed the battery you have to re-program the key fob. If you do not have an owner's manual that can take you through the steps you might want to try: push and hold the lock button on the key fob, put it in the driver's side door and turn to lock. With the button still depressed turn back to open, remove the key and release the button. If this doesn't work check any and all fuses associated with your system and last but not least you could take it to a dealer. Good luck!
