1999 porsche 911 how to open hood with dead battery

I just purchased a used 1999 911. While reading the owners manual it says the hood and trunk cannot be openned if the battery is dead.
How would you jump start the car or chage the battery?

The cheapest way to get around this and get enough voltage into the system to open the hood is to purchase a cigarette lighter extension (about 3 feet) and cut off the female plug on the end. Strip the 2 wires back a few inches and attach one to the positive and the other to the negative on a set of jumper cables. Attach the other end of the negative jumper to a battery. With the keyless entry in hand, touch the positive cable to the positive terminal on the battery and press the unlock button until you hear the car doors click. Once it clicks, you should be able to use the hood latch to gain access to the battery.

Hi, you may try using a cigarette lighter battery charger to energize the system so the hood release will work (electric). Happened to me too and just had it towed to the Porsche dealer. The mechanics have a work around (they didnt want to show me) but didnt charge me for the work so it was all good. Hope this helps.

I found a website that finds a way to jump the car without having battery access. It is actually fairly simple. Follow these instruction: http://perryandcoblog.com/2009/11/17/porsche-carrera-911-996-dead-battery-locked-hood-solution/ Hope this helps! Please rate 4 thumbs up!

How can i charge a porsche 911 carrera 4 1989 battery from the rear since the hood will not open with a dead battery

Do you have an owners Manual, it may have refferance to this type of problem, should it ever ocure. Also for in the future it might be a good idea to purchase a repair manual, Haynes or Chiltons are both very good repair manuals for the do it yourselfers, @ most Automotive Parts Stores cary them. However I would locate the starter on the vehicle and connect a jumper cable to the starter ( this would be the Red Positive cabls ) where the battery cable connects to the starter and the ground cable to a good grounding spot near by. Connect the other two cable leads to the battery you intend to put in the vehicle to replace the old one and this should get you into the trunk. Make sure when you hook the cable clamp to the positive termanel on the starter you do not come in contact with any other exposed wire terminals. Good Luck and Happy New Year. 1999 porsche 996 replaced key fob battery disconnected battery now trunk releses are locked and cant access battery. How do you open frt trunk manually

Assuming the car battery is ok (if not, buy a male to male cigarette lighter at the auto store and connect to another car until charged enough to unlock the doors...but don't try to crank the ignition!). The trunks won't open if the battery went dead with the alarm set because arming the alarm physically locks the releases.

Sounds like the key code is switched off because you replaced the key fob battery. Try unlocking the car manual with the key in the door lock. Then switch the ignition on to reactive the keyless entry. If this does not work, you might also try pressing the fob unlock button with the key in the door lock until the dash led flashes.
