Engine flutters loudly at stop lights. Sounds normal when driving.

The engine is fluttering loudly at stop lights and intersections. When driving, the fluttering goes away. Also, the check engine light comes on only after 30 minutes of driving. Sometimes it shuts off by itself. Sometimes it stays on. When I go to drive the car again, the check engine light is back off.

You should not drive a car if the check engine light comes on and you do not know what the problem is. In some cases the check engine light means a serious problem and I know could cost a lot of money to repair. Mine came on and cost $800 dollars to repair as I tried to drive it.

SOURCE: While driving check engine light

Check fuse box it has two ECM fuses one is power for the computer and turns off and on with switch the other is for computer memory check fuses if both fuses are good And computer still has no memory i think your going to find ECM problems. I Have bought many computers from wrecking yards and saved a lot of money. The persom adviseing you there is no memory is sadly mistaken but thats ok. One other thing I wish you would try is to disconnect battery for about one minute. setting the computer to factory specs try that and see if it changes anything. all computers have memorys sence mid 80s next time your engine light comes on go to Auto Zone and get it checked but dont turn the car off leave running

It sounds like u need to change the fuel pressure regulator. U can pick one up for around 40$. Its not all that hard to change yourself.

SOURCE: truck stalls and check engine light comes on

is this a diesel or a gas job? has it been tune up lately? if its a diesel I recommend pulling apart the exhaust backpressure sensor on the front of the engine which screws into a tube which goes to your RH exhaust manifold. If its full of carbon and the tube is plugged up, that will cause it to stall erratically and eventually when fully plugged off, it stalls or may not even starts consistently.

Coolant sensor may be the problem. It is located near the thermostat housing. It may be sticking between modes & not operating properly. Also make sure coolant is circulating in system.

After driving through standing water, check engine light flashes, flutters loud upon acceleration, but doesnt lose power. Idle is a little rough.

You need to STOP DRIVING THE VEHICL AND GET THE ENGINE CHECKED. If any water has entered the engine you will destroy it by using it, this could be very costly indeed if you ignore the warning. Engines work by comressing fuel/air misture, water cannot be compressed, it will destroy the innards of your engine
SEE A GOOD MECHANIC ASAP WITHOUT DRIVING THE VEHICL
