Hi! I know I am past due on my oil change for my 99 VW Turbo Passat and my oil light just came on. Is it ok to drive a few miles to the gas station for oil? Or will my engine get damaged...I have had a new turbo charger so I am petrified to do anything that could damage my car, it is has had a lot of problems!
NO NO NO! do not drive anywhere with the oil light on! your engine will more than likely be ruined if you do this, these engines are sensitive as it is and i would not suggest missing oil changes from now on bc a sludge problem develops quickly and will cost you around $8000 The person who answered first obviously knows nothing about cars! That light is not for changing your oil, it means there is low or no oil pressure!
If you are not driving far no problem. If you are just put a quart of oil in it until you get to the station.

oil light is coming on but its full of oil making no unusual noises at 115,000 miles. went through a lot of snow lately and rubbed bottom on snow Is the sensor subject to grounding out ?
