If it is the light in the rear window, there are two plastic caps on either side on the base of the light. Pop off the cap and remove the screws inside. That should allow you to get to the bulb. I went to autozone for the bulb w/o removing it and they gave me the wrong one. If you have the bulb removed, you're better off, if not, the people at advanced got me the correct one without any issues. If it's the brake lights on the back of the trunk, you access those from inside the trunk. On either side, there are thumbscrews (sometimes under the fabric lining flaps). Once you remove the bulb carrier, you'll know which one is out. It usually lines up with the red cover but if you can borrow someone's time, have them look in your trunk at the bulbs as you test your parking lights to see which one lights and which one doesn't. Hope this helps.

The driver side running lights don't work on my 2007 hyundai elantra. brake light, blinkers and headlights all work and the bulbs are good because they flash when i lock car with the fab. but they don't...

brake lights and blinkers use the sale filament in the bulb
the running light is the other (in a dual filament bulb)
you may have a poor connection or a break inside the bulb base.
test with a known good bulb.
the next place to look is the connector on the light switch and the joint where the running lights split off.

My 06 Elantra's brake lights won't come on. Bulbs

The brake sensor switch is located on the brake pedal. If fuses and bulbs are ok it should be the switch.

Hi joe its going to be that socket that has poor contact. It will more than likley need a the socket but try this first. unhook the battery, just so you dont blow the fuse. then remove the bulb look in the socket theres going to be 2 copper looking metal contacts bend them up alittle. this will take away the poor contact if thay are not cracked. If they are cracked you will have to get a socket.

REAR BRAKE LIGHT

open your trunk and remove the carpet from behind the brake lights, you should be able to access the brake light from there. If not just remove those screws/bolts and the brake light assembly will pop right out.

Brake lights

hi from uk not too sure on elantra but will try to help? if car is hatchback ? lift up hatch and look at the water drain channel alongside lamp? if there are 3x screws? unscrew and lift lamp off then unclup bulb/lamp board from lens bulbs are bayonet fitting if saloon then open boot look to rear of lamp in boot for either clip on panel or carpet covering lamp rear remove and look for some kind of nylon head screw bolt/s or 10 mm nuts? that my hold the lamp in place to body? or you may ?find the bulb/lamp board is simply a clip in to the lens assy as 1st example ? in that case just unclip and change bulb/s with no need to remove lens assy with a little patience you will succeed hope this helps
