I had the same problem on my 05 HUMMER. I got under truck and saw that the linkage bushing on shifter cable had come off the shifter. i put it back and was able to shift gears again. I moved the truck and it came off again. I had to get a eight dollare part from Advane Auto parts to fix problem

Well I have a 2005 mazda6 5 speed and when I was driving it all the sudden the gear shifter went lose and now it only shifts into ro gears 3rd and 4th. What is the problem

Suspect a shift cable problem. There should be two cables from the shifter to the transmission. Have a look at the shift linkage while someone moves the shifter to see if cables operate

2005 pt cruiser, stuck in 5th gear

Check the gear linkage cable (very common problem) look down inside engine bay towards top of bell case (thats where the linkage meets with selector arm. Get someone to wiggle the gear stick while you observe selector arm. (if you move the air box out of the way you can reach down and de-select the gear with your hand- should get you neutral at least)... I'll keep an eye out for any reply...

After removing and replaceing the A-670 transaxle it will not shift to forward gears. Park Reverse and Neutral are good. Did I miss something?

Hi, Check the shift linkage it maybe too sloppy or lose. Readjust and it should be good to go. Good luck.

97 Jeep Grand Cherokee my gears are hard to shift. If I have it in Drive about to put it in Park it gets stuck doesn't want to shift into Park!

either the shift collar on the column is dry and worn inside where is slides on the upper column or the linkage at the tranny is out os schync due to a pin or keeper that came lose letting the shift linkage back up out of the crank on the tranny
