Guys have you checked for a vaccum leak????? there is a little plastic ball with a vaccum line going to it that controls the outside air coming in. check for a leak in this line
Unfortunately, the HVAC system in the F-150 seems to have been poorly designed ... for years! My wife's 1999 model wouldn't produce hot air last winter, so she took it to the local Ford dealer. They diagnosed the problem as a broken blend door ... which seems to be a very common problem. The replacement part is cheap ... but you have to pull the entire dash out to replace it. Labor was more than $500 ... took an entire day.
Earlier this winter, I drove the truck and noticed that only slightly warm air was being blown out the vents. Back to the dealer ... only to discover the temperature control knob on the dash was cracked ... and for a mere $40 the dealer replaced it.
Drove the truck a week or so ago ... air only getting slightly warm again.
Solution ... only drive the truck in warm weather ... the AC works fine!
Someone ought to file a class action against Ford for such a faulty design.
You may want to start by removing the bezel that surrounds your stereo and heater controls. Trace the linkage back into the dash. I might say, if it's not a control issue it may be a bad heater core. We had a similar problem with my wife's Taurus.

my heater is not working either. my husband checked everything and it all looks fine it just won't blow hot. fan works, heater core works, the tempature thing works , just blows cold. my defrost does not work either?? oh and we also checked fuses.

I have the same problem with my '97 f-150. One mechanic said it was the switch.Well, he was wrong. A friend told me it could be a cable in the engine compartment . He said some Fords have a cable that has a mechanism that turns when you move the selector from cold to hot. I have yet to locate this cable.
