I have a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 5.2l V8. It starts but doesn't idle. When put in gear it stalls out. I have replaced the fuel filter and put in and additive to clean the injectors and clean out any possible water. Can you help?

Check the Fuel Pressure, you may have a bad fuel pump.

Take a look inside the changer with the holder removed and clean any contacts you see. There also needs to be the proper amount of electronic lube inside.
Using a CD lens cleaner is also something to try.

I have one '98 GC 5,2L V8 and remember that the first time I put a CD in my changer it read error, even though it was loaded properly. After pulling out and replacing the holder once or twice it played fine.

is sounds like a fuel problem have you replace your fuel filter lately?? if it has more than a year you must replace it and if you still have the same problem take it to a mecanic shop to thest the fuel pump.

sounds like it is starving for fuel. check or repace fuel filter. when load is on engine, it needs the proper fuel to injectors. check fuel filter.

There are several possibilites.
When it dies does the Engine Light come-on and stay-on? If so there are codes which are present that can isolate/point you to a more specific problem.
Based soley on your description: I would first check your Spark Plugs, Wires, and Coil. When were they last replaced? If these are fine: When was the Fuel Filter replaced? Air Filter? Check the fuel pressure at the port located on the fuel rail in the engine compartment.
If those check out okay: I would check and/or replace the Idle Sensor and/or the Throttle Position Sensor.
Basic rules on bad idling:
1. Fuel - is there enough getting to the cylinders?
2. Spark - Is there consistent spark getting to all the cyclinders?
3. Air - Is there a air shortage = clogged air filter?

You will need to check fuel pressure first thing. It could be your problem. Also it may be a Idle Air Control Valve fault

make sure your idle air control motor is working, if you give and hold gas pedal a little will it stay running in drive.

Sounds like your idle air control valve is going bad.  It is located on your throttle body and is held in with two screws.  Let me know if you have any other questions.  Thanks for rating my response and for using FixYa!
