1990 Mazda 626 4 cyl with 45,000 actual miles. It has developed a very rough idle/stall condition in DRIVE gear only. When stopped at a light, it will start running rough, then stall. After very poor acceleration, it runs normal. This condition does not happen in Park, Neutral, or Reverse. What could cause this problem in DRIVE only?
My 1990 Mazda 626 has 45000 miles and started doing the same thing,It doesnt stall in reverse or park though.I will try the CRC cleaner and see if it works and I will disconnect the battery to reset it.My 1990 Mazda 626 has 45000 miles and started doing the same thing,It doesnt stall in reverse or park though.I will try the CRC cleaner and see if it works and I will disconnect the battery to reset it.

1999 Oldsmobile Alero High Idle Fix ... How To Fix Or Prevent Stalling, Surging Or Rough Idle, Cleaning Throttle Body and MAF Sensor ...
Dirty air filter, dirty throttle body...try 2 bottles of gas line fuel injector cleaner...has your car been parked for awhile? Heet gas additive will work on any low gas tank sludge that you may have. Hope this helps.
check connection to cam sensor. sometimes corrosion will cause a poor electrical connection. clean as needed. otherwise you may have to replace the sensor.
u followed the pin point tests for these codes you had? did you disconnect the battery after you installed new parts? sounds like u have not fixed the problem, you do have a repair manual correct? did you check the intake air hose for cracks on the bottom which will cause a stall? did you clean the idle speed control valve and the throttle valve, they can also cause this stall, never adjust the the hard stop screw, it will chnage nothing and cause all kinds of other problems, it is not the problem, most likely the intake is sludged up clean it and then disconnect battery for 5 minuter, driv about 50 miles and problem should clear up, if it doesn't you have other issues, recheck for codes.
Being a 95 it dosent have OBD2 so it may not store a trouble code in the computer.
From the symptoms it sounds like either, Air flow sensor, O2 sensor
The O2 will not usually cause stalling under acceleration.
On thing to check is the air duct hose that connects from the throttle body to the air cleaner housing. If it gets cracked it will cause stalling problems and very rough idle.
