High Idle and transmission shifts at higher RPM than normal

Only does it on Hot and Humid days... did it last Summer then stopped in the fall.... no problem during winter/spring.... now it's hot a humid and it's doing it again. Have been told it could be TPS. My problem is I don't know where it is located on the motor. A diagram of location would be helpful.

The issue sound as if it were a sensor that is not working normally, that is because of the weather condition that make the sensor misbehave. Shift gears on auto trans are not only depending on sensors also on the main ICU. You need to start by checking the trans. main sensor that is mainly located where the trans is. It could be on the sides or the top part of the trans. If its not the sensor then it might be the ICU. The TPS is also another sensor but I find this hard to believe because the TPS works mainly with the EFI system which control the fuel intake when you use the accelerator.

You will need a multimeter to test the tps--do you have one? Normally, a bad tps will set the engine light--is it on?
if yes to both of these questions, have the computer scanned at your local parts store and post the trouble codes here. Also reply with engine size if you want a test procedure.

SOURCE: Blazer transmission not shifting properly beetween 1 and 2

Your going to have to get the ECM scanned, Auto Zone scan's for free and most garage now will scan for $10.00 to $15.00 since they all have the scanners now and need the business.
You could have a Vehicle Velocity Sensor (V V S)  going bad or the wire harness it self. The V.V.S tells the ECM how fast the drive shaft is rotating and calculate's what gear it should be in relative with the engine speed and throttle position, and transmission fluid pressure.
Regardless you need the Blazer scanned to pin point why your transmission is shifting the way it is. Could be as simple as time for transmission oil and filter change for $125.00 or a loose wire harness.
Check your transmission fluid and try not to run the blazer to hard, to replace the transmission start at $1,900.00 for a rebuilt.
Good luck and hope this helps. Keep me posted

SOURCE: BLOWER MOTOR ON 2004 AVALANCHE IS SLOWLY PUMPING OUT AIR

it may not be the blower motor. it may be the blower motor control module which use to be the resistor. it's located under the pas. side. remove the black coyer , 2 scaews above the pas. foot area. then remove the blach unit that has a purple wire going to the back of the motor on the right. price about 140 dollar with tax.

SOURCE: My 2002 chevrolet 2500hd 4 wheel drive will not

I would check the wire harnesses for damage (pinching, cuts and such) from the transfer case. There may be damage from the trans install. Also fuse panels both under hood and interior. Since no lights are on it is probably a fuse or the harness is disconnected.

1993 automatic transmission Geo Tracker that stalls every time I stop

sorry for late post
that was dead wrong to do. 1.6L ( 8v or 16v?)
the PCM sets idle only (ISC valve) and when cold only thermal IAC valve, so if then wrecked the TB throttle stop screw setting a factory settings. (no never touch) it did this like a CARB and is not one.

so is this a hot engine stall or cold, hot means normal temps.
stall on this car means the PCM lost control of idle. (its job is that)
top cause are.
1: EGR struck open they love to just as you stop the car. and stalls at 400 rpm and is never allowed to be active at idle (PCM logic0
so is bad valve stuck.
now back to high RPM
the answer is not same for 8v and 15valve engine
8v any vacuum leak causes super high idle.
16v engine leaks cause low idle, goes lean.
stalling has many causes ,
and are not the same hot and cold engine
on cold engine the IAC open and idle is about 1500 RPM
if not the IAC is dead or EGR stuck open.
on the hot engine the ISC holds RPM at 800 rpm, (AC off)
if not ISC stuck EGR open or ISC is jammed up,

EGR and ISC just love to stick on this car and can be cleaned
the IAC is therrmal device and can not be cleaned, only replaces and are rare now.
I have simple test to prove what it is , ask/

My 2000 gmc sierra z-71 has started idleling at about 1300 rpm after driving for a while. when i turn it off and restarted it would idle fine for a while then start idleing high again. it is getting to...

I assume the check engine/ service soon light is on. Commonly the MAP sensor is the culprit, but can be TPS, CSS, even a buggy O2 sensor. Only way to be sure? (light or not) is to scan it.

Trouble in shifting

I am having trouble understanding what you are saying but it sounds like you are saying the transmission shift points are too high. (Holds the gears too long, RPM's too high before it shifts) RIght? Check to see if you have vacuum to the modulator at Idle. If yes replace the modualtor.

did you check for vacuum leaks? vacuum leak will cause a higher rpm , and some use vacuum to shift transmission,

Engine high rev at stop and slowly goes to idle speed.

I've got Hyundai Lantra 1.6 year 2000. It's take time to start when it's hot. When I start my car it revs at about 2k-3k rpm. It also does it when I come to a stop. When I come to a stop it will stay at a higher rpm than that of idle speed. It drives ok when on freeway but uses more petrol. I have changed the water & petrol pump but no luck

1999 Toyota Camry Idle Problems on Hot days

Clean the IAC. Disconnect throttle body air hose and you will see a hole on the bottom of the throttle body just before the butterfly valve. Spray throttle body cleaner down the IAC hole and then let it soak about 1/2 hour. Reconnect hose and run engine about a minute and then repeat this process 2 or more times. Toyota engines from 1997-2005 commonly have the IAC get cruded up with carbon as early as 35,000 miles. This is a sImple and cheap repair that many repair shops don't want you to know.
