SOURCE: 2005 Chevy Impala speedometer

should have mentioned, check engine light is not on, and there are no codes stored in the PCM.

do you think i should be looking at replacing the speedometer guage itself, or start with the vehicle speed sensor? also, are the sensors on the front wheels for the ABS, and the vehicle speed sensor is on the back of the transmission? does this sound correct?

The servos in the speedometer go bad a lot in these. You can take a chance with repiar shops on line, or go to a dealer. runs $300 or less

95 Silverado 5.7 automatic C2500 Replacement of speed sensor correct 8mph error in my speed. At 60 mph reads out at 68. Checked with GPS.

Are you certain that the correct size of tire is on the truck? A smaller tire will cause the speedometer to register faster speed. If it does have the correct size, the speed sensor would be the cheapest place to start. If that does not fix the problem I would think the speedometer head might need to be either replaced or calibrated.

The number on the fan control in My 2005 pontiac grand prix and degree are in celsius. How do I change that.

My Buick has a button on the dash that says ENG / MET This changes everything from Imperial to Metric. Even the speedometer so you have to be careful In Ontario our speed is metric 100 is actually 60 miles per hour but if you push this button to imperial you have to adjust your speed to 60 Our signs are all metric.

Changed speed sensors in 03 silverado but speedometer still reads incorect?

I have a 2005 Silverado and around 75,000 miles the speedometer started malfunctioning. It would go to max speed, then everytime I started the engine it would step down about 5 mph until it finally reached normal. It would be ok for a while and then do it again. I found out there is a known problem with the speedometer. Depending on age of vehicle and mileage some of the repair cost is covered. You have to pull the whole dash unit and replace it. Dealer only, as they have to get a documented replacement with correct mileage. You may have a different problem but worth checking.

Speedometer quit on 2005 silverado but the

The Chevy instrument panels had problems with the gauges functioning. Mine says I am always doing 120mph, for the past 80,000 miles. See your dealer for a replacement. It wasn't recalled, but there was a class action suit for some of the production years which might cover replacement.

I was driving from Columbus to Dayton and the speedometer stopped on 25 miles per hour and will not change

I had this happen. I tapped on the dash and it worked again for awhile. It is the instrument panel cluster. I ended up getting mine replaced at the Chevy dealer. (im not mechanical) But, you can find them on ebay.
