What you've replaced are what most people would consider "consumables". They need to be replaced at regular intervals. I don't see spark plugs on the list. And do try a bottle or two of a concentrated fuel injector cleaner, because clogged injectors would definitely cause the issue you describe. The most recommended cleaner comes from the gas company with a star as a logo. This cleaner is actually in several car manufacturer's approved service tools list.

Spluttering and missing is usually one of two things Fuel or spark ?
Fuel problems will be traced to 1/ in line fuel filters .. 2/ tank run low on petrol throwing dirt and grit into tank filter ( if Fitted ) and blocked or restricted injectors a good fuel additve sometimes cures that problem , but replacement is a far better option .
Poor spark plugs breaking down under preassure oiled plugs due to overfilling or incorrect fuel mixtures .. poor or cracked distributor caps dirty or damaged rotor arms in said cap .. leaking HT leads damaged by rubbing and contact with hot engine causing sparks to fly to nearest earth disrupting the spark and ignition timing ... hope this helps Regards vortash

I would check the connectors on the coil packs, spark plugs and wires and replace them if they at all seem worn or tired. My 2000 sportage ran rough so I replaced the fuel filter, coil packs, spark plugs and wires, cleaned out the IAC valve, TPS, throttle body and intake tube, tightened the screws on the fuel pump access door under the right rear seat and cleaned the ground wire and the contact surface and I added 1 ground wire from the block to the firewall and 1 from the valve cover to the firewall. Your timing is more than likely right where it needs to be but the ignition may be slightly missing from a bad coil pack, dirty or fouled plugs or a bad plug wire.

The poor performance of the car makes these faults to come up and undermine the working of the engine. So to start off we need to check from the fuel tank. Check if the fuel contains impurities and specially water. If so this can come up with the pumping when the tank gets empty and produce misfiring, splutter and jerks. So a check on the fuel filter will confirm this as it will be seen, if so remove and clean tank and change the filter. We then come to the fuel pump/carburetor as the fuel mixing and pressure is determined in this section. You need to have the pump calibrated if the pressure at the injector is low. Then we must check with the electrics. The spark intensity is most important .Remove all plugs to check gap and condition of plugs. The black plug indication will confirm that the performance is bad whereas a fully fired plug without deposits must be the ideal view. Check the HT coil and the HT wires, if the intensity is bad this must be swapped and checked to confirm. DO NOT CHANGE any part without a confirmation by trying with a replacement from another vehicle or friend. Finally the LT trigger to the coils must be checked be it from the platinum points or an electronic ignition unit. The voltage of the trigger must be high to give the best HT output. Now use a strobe to check the Timing on the engine. Adjust if needed to see the TOP DEAD CENTER-TDC- mark. If there is valve noise make sure that the tappets are set properly so that the valves seat firmly for the best compression. Also check compression of engine if there is imbalance on the engine or reduced power. Thank you for using Fixya
