The temp gauge keeps going all the way around even where there are no numbers. Then the speedometer started not going all the way back to zero it stayed on 20mph.

From the research that I have done alot of people have been having the same problems in alot of Chevy products (Impalas from 2004 and 2005) ....... $400 to $600 to fix the problem ..... replace the instrument panel, this solved speedometer, temp, and tach problems. If you go this route you might want to try and find a low mileage used one. Also check with your dealer or on the internet for maybe a possible recall by Chevy ..... but don't hold your breath for that one.
There in a computer glitch, in all chevy cars, it there was of getting you to spend money..

i have the exact same problem with my 05 impala
I have the same problem in my 2004 Chev Impala, hope someone can help!
when i use my cruise control, and then slow down and come to a stop, my speedo stays where I had the cruise set. I have to shut car off, then turn ignition of and on, off and on multiple times to get it to return to 0.
Alot similar to nena72870's problem. One day the temperature guage went all the way around. If you were looking right at it,where it reads in the red, follow the pointer straight down and that is where it sits. I had someone tell me,since I had to get a water pump for it, because it went out on us,that the guage is reading upside down. I don't think so. I turn the key on and off continuously and it does go back to where it should be,but it just does it again. For some reason my battery went dead, had to get it recharged. We put it back in and the temperature guage read normal for a little bit, then it went right back down where it was before. This is so frustrating, because what I was told, was, the dealership had to diagnostics on it first, the control panel comes in sets of 3, and since it is computerized they would also have to be the ones to fix it. All together for this service is $75. diagnostics + $450.- $475. for parts and labor. All I can say is, if enough us complain about it, we may open the companies eyes and someone put a recall on this. Thanks
My temp gauge started doing that, and then a few months later the gas gauge followed suit. Now my speedometer is starting to act up too!
My temp gauge goes around and blocks the speedo
