I have a renault kangoo diesel van, which is currently blowing out balck smoke from the exhaust and the engine is spluttering. can u help please?
Is it a turbo diesel? It sounds like the turbo is shot. Black smoke and runs like **** a pretty sure signs.
Could be a carbon build-up in the turbo, check out Diesel Turbo Cleaner. That'll get your turbo running sweet again!
Have a diagnostic done by a Renault dealer because it could be egr valve or electrical as an electric fault with turbo charging system will inhibit the turbo charging function

a couple of things it could be , 1 it might be leaking valve guides+seals if they are leaking the oil drips on the pistons and when started it smokes for a while but eventually clears. 2 piston rings, if the bore is scored or you have a broken piston ring this will cause it to smoke, when engine gets to presure and the oil is thin due to being warn it can seep past either the broken ring or through the score on the bore, you can get it presure checked for that one to see if its 2. 3, being a diesel if the timing is slightly out this would cause smoke and it would be getting to much fuel in the pots to burn and you get a build up of fule that does not burn correctly, but you get other problems with that one, slow acceleration, jerkiness, that sort of thing....anyway hope that helps

p100d error code is due to fault in EGR Valve. The EGR valve shuts off to when 3000rpm is exceeded.so the EGR Valve needs to be checked and replaced.
Thanks. you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

SOURCE: exhaust blowing white grey smoke lots of it and
The white/grey smoke is steam (water). (from the cooling system)The engine has either blown a head gasket or there is a crack on the engine block.
Stop as soon as safely practical at home or wherever you will work on it.
Before you spend lots of money, try an engine block sealer, less than $15. Bar's Block Seal, for example. Read and follow directions carefully. You may need to apply twice. May also last for a couple of months or several years.
Otherwise, replace head gasket on affected side and/or replace engine (block).
