Because there is a high drain when the head lights on and there is no current being generated because the engine is not running, the system cuts of the head lights and allows full power to the starter and the ECM
I would not consider that as a problem and the rest of what you say could be a coincidence
replacing the ground wire is the same as disconnecting the battery so you may need a scan tool to reset the ECM and immobilizer

The bumper is held on by just two 13mm bolts, the problem is getting to them. First remove the air filter and you will then see a black junction box on the right hand side, remove this and the bracket underneath to get to the bumper bolt. The driver side bolt is behind the small black junction box under a larger black junction box. Remove the small one 2/3 small bolts) to access the other bumper bolt. Its easy to do just takes a bit of time.

Between the radiator and the engine block. Or on either side of the engine block. Looks like a can.

My MK4 renault grand espace has issues with starting and stopping, when the ignition is on you can pull the card out and it all goes off, if the engine has been running, when you stop the engine and p

I notice that you say that the answers are not helpful.
All I have to say is you should never REMOVE the card keys whale the engine still running from it decking position.
My Renault respace Grand, we never use the key in it card reader.
Has long you have the card with you. You should be able to start the vehicle just by pressing the started/stop button.
If this is not carry out correctly.
You are messing with your immobiliser Plus the engine management.
Even when we leave the vehicle it will automatic lock itself, New card key for this type of vehicle are very costly.
I should mention that it would better to have it around your neck for save keeping not damage it.
So one more time always if you want put the card in position first and press the start button. And NEVER TRY TO REMOVED THE CARD. WHALE THE ENGINE STILL RUNNING without switching off engine first FOOLS !1

Espace wont satrt with starter motor but starts on a bump or easy start!

sounds like the dreaded renault immobiliser ,in which case its dealer only as software encrypted.whats happening is the immobiliser is stopping it from starting when key is in start position cranking but it will go with a bump as starter motor key position not activated .try a wire from battery to small connector on starter motor .if it starts which i think it will then you know what to do ...old fashioned way with a push button.but are you getting prepared to lay the golden egg ???just in case

Renault espace starting problems

I have a 2000 Espace and for years it has suffered from a non-start problem. It can be fine for ages and then, suddenly, there's nothing when you turn the ignition, not even a click. All instruments light up. It's not the battery. Does this sound familiar?

In my case, time and time again it has been what they call the 'firewire' connection on to the starter - the connection becomes corroded over time and fails to pass sufficient voltage.

If the terminal becomes too badly burned, where the voltage has arced because of a poor connection, apparently the only solution is to fit a new starter motor. But so far, in my case, it's just needed a clean of the connector and terminal.

By the way, holding the ignition key in the ON position for some time (30 seconds or more) can sometimes cause it to fire up.
