Question about 1986 Renault Sport
With the ignition off, my headlights work fine, as soon as i turn the key to 2nd position the headlights go to sidelights only, had lots of problems, electric wise, replaced relays with new originals etc,, had to replace engine earth strap, this is the last thing needed so i can MOT it so any help would be appreciated, thanks kev
Because there is a high drain when the head lights on and there is no current being generated because the engine is not running, the system cuts of the head lights and allows full power to the starter and the ECM
I would not consider that as a problem and the rest of what you say could be a coincidence
replacing the ground wire is the same as disconnecting the battery so you may need a scan tool to reset the ECM and immobilizer

The bumper is held on by just two 13mm bolts, the problem is getting to them. First remove the air filter and you will then see a black junction box on the right hand side, remove this and the bracket underneath to get to the bumper bolt. The driver side bolt is behind the small black junction box under a larger black junction box. Remove the small one 2/3 small bolts) to access the other bumper bolt. Its easy to do just takes a bit of time.
