1996 Lexus ES300 Has Sprung a leak in the power steering

My 1996 Lexus ES300 has sprung a leak in the power steering. I have heard that this is a common problem for this vehicle but it didn't say if it was usually hose related or pump related. I have a reliable mechanic but he cannot get to me for about a week. It just started to leak although I can't be positive it hasn't been leaking small amounts for awhile. I filled the reservoir and by the end of the day I heard the noise again. It has been high 90's for a few days and prior to the heat wave I haven't had to add any fluid. Am I looking at a new pump or could I be lucky enough to just need a hose?

Take the vehicle to an accredited steering pump specialist and have the hose replaced before it costs a pump

SOURCE: Loosing fluid. Lexus es300. 1995 How do you

Sounds like loose hose lines.
As far as the thermostat goes you usually can tell by the temperature gauge going up past its usual spot it would normally warm up to.
It would go up some then when you reeved the engine it would return to normal.
when it starts doing that you should replace the thermostat, and flush the radiator.
Do not wait thinking it will be ok since it went back to normal because the next time you maybe out in the middle of no where and it breaks down where you can`t even get signal on your cell phone. Belive me if theres no tower around theres no signal LOL. well hope this helped you and stay safe not sorry.

SOURCE: Both front brakes are leaking brake fluid/Lexus es 300 1993

probably not. you won't know though till it is taken apart. the worst i think is the calipers are frozen. but most likely you can swap the hoses out and it will be fine. good luck and if you have any more question please ask

Will a power steering pump off a 98 lexus es300 work for a 98 lexus ls400?

best ask a steering specialist shop as the engine identification shows a es300 as a 1mz-fe (3.0 ltr) and a ls400 as a 1uz-fe (4.0 ltr)
there may be mounting differences between the engines

What causes my Lexus ES300 to feel like it is not getting gas and wants to shut off when in drive, but gets the gas and power when in park or neutral?

I thought it was my fuel pump. It's likely your ECU.
The capacitors may have begun leaking.
I redid mine and fixed the problem.

Whats wrong with my is250 06 lexus steering its hard

You are possibly low on power steering fluid. Check the reservoir and top it up as needed. You will need to do this again after a short while, as air works its way out of the pipes.
Then you should think about why it got low to start with. It is possible the power steering gear has sprung a leak somewhere. A common place for that is the steering rack end seals.

Power steering making loud noise, while turning....been adding lucas power steering for the last 4,5 months or so....what can the problem be?

You drive a caddy, spend a buck and get a new power steering pump. I would check the lines also and see if there is a steering fluid cooler which could have sprung a pinhole leak. It is 12 years old, most of its brethren are already upside down in junkyards.

Noises are difficult to diagnose without hearing them in person. There are too many potential causes; maybe the power steering pump (turning the wheel to lock causes this), maybe tires, maybe a cv joint.
The A/C water is condensation that occurs because of the cold. This is perfectly natural and is a sign of a very cold-blowing A/C unit.
