have you tried to check for vlotage at the same terminal shile cranking the engine? cause some of them are triggered through the ECM, and if you dont have volts while cranking then i would start from the ECM.have you tried to check for vlotage at the same terminal shile cranking the engine? cause some of them are triggered through the ECM, and if you dont have volts while cranking then i would start from the ECM.

Time to meter voltage. Start with the 12V circuit. Are you getting voltage at the coil. Does the voltage fluctuate when the engine cranks? If yes to both check the high voltage circuit. Start with the coil then the distributor then each plug. You should be able to find where the spark is failing.
Check the coil itself,or replace it.The e c m sends power to the coil,12 volts, but it also breaks the ground side of the coil to load it,to fire on time.
You need to replace the crankshaft sensor, it's mounted behind the engine at the top of the bell housing on the drivers side. It is a pain to do, but a very common problem.
The CPS is one of the first places to start, but remember that the signal goes thru the ECM first, which ultimately supplies power to the coil, I've had to replace the ECM on my 96 Grand Cherokee 4.0 3 times. The dealer wanted to replace the crack and cam sensors, but it was only the computer that was bad. Sorry I cant give you any definitive answers but I did get it to turn over when I hit the computer with a wrench!
