If you are very sure the wires are good, then you need to replace the multifunction switch in the steering column. Be sure you have checked the wire harness for bare spots or a broken wire first. Hope this helps.

You need to remove the steering wheel. This requires a puller which is about $35 or$40 and don't let anyone tell you that you don't need it. With the wheel off there is a spring loaded plate that has to come out. There is a snap ring holding it in place. You can get a tool to compress this and remove the ring. I use a pice of bromsticck and press down on the plate with my shoulder. this leaves my hands free to remove the ring. Let up on the plate easy when you have the ring off. It's a heavy spring.

At a shop you should be looking at about 2 hours labour. Where I live labour is $65 an hour at a corner garage. I'm not sure on the price for the part but a quick call to any dealer will get you a price.

Unless you have a regular garage that you go to and trust call around before you take it anywhere. This repair isn't rocket science for a garage and any more than 2 or 2.5 hours of labor is too much. There also shouldn't be any need for other parts unless they break them.

Could you take out a bulb and with a testlight/probe check that you do in fact have power to that circuit .Also check that they are the correct bulb for that application I have seen people put indicator bulbs in where therse supposed to be a double filament bulb.Does the base of the bulbs lead contacts line up with the two steel terminals inside the plug?

change the brake light switch ,or rewire the whole lot to europeon standard where its all seperate.Stupid american idea where the brake light is used as the indicator as well.Had a few like this to import and had to rewire the whole rear back lights as their is some fancy brake light switch on these cars with a whole lot of wires .i just cut the whole bunch and rewired the lot as our regulations do not permit this type of concoction.best of british with it though as although its not difficult to do its amazing how many so called mechanics run when they more than two wires

SOURCE: 99 Chevy Tahoe... Rear turn signals, brake lights, and hazards

I had this problem, and to be honest, it happened to the left side about a week later...it's the board that the bulbs plug into...it's a very common problem with this model. So popular that you can normally get the socket board off the shelf at a parts store! it's extremely simple to replace, and I replaced all the bulbs at the same time!

Tail lights work but not brake lights 93 toyota camry

The brake light side of the bulbs is powered by the brake switch and travels thru the turn signal switch.
If the third brake light works, I would guess the problem is in the turn signal switch.

The Blinkers and the Brake Lights are the same bulb. So check the brake light switch. Flashers use a different flasher unit, than the turn signals
