I want to replace my back latch door in my 99 ford windstar. How can I go about removing the door? More so, how may I install a new door (I have purchased a replacement part). More specifically, I need help removing the wiring system for the electronic components (windshield, etc.) from the door. How do I uninstall this without damaging anything? Thanks in advance.
If I recall the wiring plugs in at the top you may be able to pull the plug with out droping the back of the headliner, But I am not sure, if not pull the two clips in the rear and one uper side panel for access. You will need someone to help yu remove the door. After you get the wiring loose at the roof and the washer hose, remove one nut/bolt out of each hinge at the door frame, and loosen the other two, remove the gas lift shocks by using a small screw driver to pry the clip back on the end that attaches to the door while some holds the door up, then remove the last two bolt/nuts in the door hinges, and remove the door. If you need to use parts on the old door like the lock cylinder yoou will need to remove the inner plastic panel to gain access to the clip that holds the cylinder. Replace in reverse order and adjust to fit properly before tightning the bolts at the hinges, then snap lift shocks back on and replug harness at roof and washer hose. Hope this helps.
