I have a 2001 Dodge 3500 van 5.2 liter while driving it just cut off and has not started

While driving the engine stopped running and while coasting I attempted to restart in neutral. It did not restart and before it stopped I had a low fuel warning signal but there is fuel in the van. I recently replace the ecm about 3 months ago and my local mechanic has checked all the starting components for fire. They all passed. Next we went to the junk yard and found an ecm with the same engine type and transmission but once it was installed the van still failed to start. Presently we would like a general direction to try next without exhausting too much money and time

Check that the timing belt/chain has not broken
next run the fault codes
next check for crank/cam shaft sensors are operational
next check the immobilizer

If wiggling the wires cured the code, then one of the wires is broken inside the insulation. Pull on each wire one at a time. look for the colored insulation to stretch, this will be the broken wire. For the other car that wont rev up, this is a common when the catalytic concverter is plugged up. This will also cause MAF codes, and in turn, TRAC OFF light.

SOURCE: 1996 Olds Achieva Engine cuts out

ok; first your car probably has a "rollover switch" this is usally located in the trunk on the right side it can cause this problem but, in your case I think the ground cable that grounds your engine is the culprit check on the engine block for a bolt with a large braided cable that fastens to the frame or sheetmetal of your car remove the bolt(s) and scrape away the paint, grease etc. and, rebolt (the radio is grounded seperately) the gages, lights on dash and, the engine ignition MUST be grounded to the frame to work.

SOURCE: dodge cummins won't start, fuel reaching injector pump but no fuel coming out of injector pump.

You said you have fuel flowing from the inlet line of the injection pump? But not at the injector lines?

Cummins diesel in 2001 Dodge is cutting out and mild surge. code#s are P0500,P0370 P1693

you have codes related to the pcm, transfer pump and a vehicle speed sensor. these could be related or all individual issues. related issued could be wiring, untill you start doing testing it will be hard to tell.
start cheap and test the speed sensor first, then you can clear the codes and continue on any codes come back.

Disconnect the PCM harness connector(s).
Disconnect the Vehicle Speed Sensor harness connector.
Note: Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.
Measure the resistance of the 5 Volt Supply circuit between the VSS harness
connector and the PCM harness connector.
Is the resistance above 5.0 ohms?

I was driving up 95 doing about 80 n when I got off the highway n went to a light my van just cut off

It could have overheated. run out of gas. stayed locked in high gear and stalled as it stopped. You did'nt say if it would restart? You did'nt say what engine? It can have a 2.4 liter 4 cyclinder a 3.0 liter V6, A 3.3 liter V6, or a 3.8 liter V6. It can have a 4 or 5 speed automatic transmission and the 4 cyclinder can have a manual transmission as well. It can be air condidtioned and problems with it can stall the motor. the battery can be low or dead and thiers not enough power to run the brake lights and the fuel pump both so the engine shuts down. It might restart if you turn off everthing and certainly the defroster and anything that uses electrical power.

You need to look at your fuel pump it does not pump to specification when it gets hot. You might just have to replace it.

Good luck
