2001ford f 250 super duty diesel air conditioner problems

My air conditioner starts out cold but after 5-10 minutes of driving it starts to blow warm air. I took it to one shop and they pressure tested the system( no leaks) and recharged it. Didn't change . I took it to another shop and they let the truck run sitting on their lot for hours and checked on it periodically . They told me it was cold all day. Five minutes after I left that shop it quit working again. I need help it was 101 degrees today. Thanks

Sounds like a fan clutch problem or ??
Can you drive it and when it quits cooling check and see if the compressor is still running ?

SOURCE: Ford Diesel glow plug relay goes out every year since 1993

Wow that sounds expensive for a relay. You didnt say what year it is and you thought it was a 7.3 powerstroke. Sounds like its a 6.0 powerstroke I could see that relay costing that many bones. If its a 7.3 liter you should be able to buy one them glow plug relays yourself and with a basic set of sockets change it yourself. You just need to unhook both ground wires on the batterys before you start. Should take like 30 mins max on a 7.3 liter. But a year and engine size would make it easier to help you.

SOURCE: I have a 1999 Ford F450 super duty diesel. It

Replace the glowplug relay. Its faulty. The glow plugs stay on until engine warms up.The engine temp switch then activates the relay to switch off.So it could be the temp switch also faulty.

SOURCE: Air Conditioner stops blowing cold air when vehicle is not moving

plus one on the cooling fan problem. if it was low on charge then as you slow down, condensor temps and line prressures would raise therefore it would cool at low speed and and not when moving since the incoming air would drop system temp, reducing line pressure and then cusing compressor to cycle. the auxillary cooling fans must be on whenever a/c is on, if not, thats your problem. get this taken care of because if you get stuck in traffic, your engine will overheat also if fans are not running

SOURCE: 2000 ford super duty 7.3 diesel will not cold start

you need to have the engine coolant switch checked, since the computer relies solely on sensors, the ect tells the computer how cold or hot it is so the computer will make it a rich or lean mixture to start the engine,if it tells the computer that it is 75 degrees the computer will lean the mixture like starting a car in the winter without a choke.

08 f250 diesel 4wd heater works for a while then starts blowing cold air?

your problem seems to be associated with the temperature control section of your H.V.A.C.(heater ventilation & air condition) system. most likely the electrical motor temperature control actuator. it is located on the right side (passenger), next to the glove compartment, on the upper side. it is hard to see and even alot harder to replace

F250 Diesel Super Duty started jerking while driving. Changed both fuel filters and air filter. Had air filter off while truck was running and truck stopped running. Would not restart. Also getting...

It may have run out of fuel when the filter was replaced, you may need to use some starting fluid for diesel to getting going and when it starts just rev engine for a few minutes to bleed any air out, also the fault may be related you would have to scan it to see what the fault is , i would start with these things first. hope this helps, good luck.

Problems With Cold Starts.

I know for some models that Ford had another Diesel timer for the glowplugs for severe weather. This timer was meant to keep the glowplugs on longer.

I had an 87 Ford Diesel and the top wires on the timer were tight and clean. For some reason when I loosened them and retightened the wires the timer worked better.

Many truckers use a Diesel additive and usually the fuelstops have modified Diesel for cold climates. I understand there is a Cetane rating for Diesel and Premium Diesel may help.

2008 ford f250 6.4l diesel, heater works one time when i get in to drive, the next time it just blows cold air, its not overheating, not sure what is going, any ideas?

Feel the heater hoses when it blows cold air--they should be quite hot when the engine is up to temperature. If ok, then either the control center in the dash has a problem or an air-duct vacuum-controlled-valve has a problem with sticking in one position. The truck is too new to have bad vacuum lines, but one may have a kink that is causing a problem. Check around the engine and the dash control panel for a loose or split vacuum line.

2006 ford f-250 diesel with no heat

it takes quite a while for a diesel to warm up by just idling in order to produce any heat.you have to put them under a load (drive it), before you will get any noticeable heat.if you have a block heater, plug it in 4-5 hours before you plan on driving it and that will definitely help produce interior heat quicker.

2000 F-250 7.3 diesel, cuts out runs rough no power

Well, you have to let diesels warm up before you drive them so the engine gets warm and it may not sound right at first because if its not warm the compression gets off and doesnt fire right. If you try to give it too much gas before its warm, extra diesel will get in the cylinders and misfire. Then when it does fire, there is a lot of extra fuel in it so that causes the smoke and smell. You should always let it warm up for a bit before driving when you havent driven it for a while.
