I am trying to troubleshoot why my back up lights don't work. Checked the bulbs, they are fine, went to check the fuze, and I cant find a diagram that matches my car. The manual says I should look at fuze 53 (10A) But I look and there is a (10A) fuse in 52, which the diagram says is for heated seats (15A) and there is nothing to put a fuse into in slots 53 or 54. Anyone help?
No fuse? Or no slots? If 53 has little metal terminals inside the slots to accept a fuse, then fuse it! Someone pulled it out and put it into 52. If there was a previous owner who blew his heated seat fuse, maybe he traded his back-up lights for a cozy heated seat!
If, however, #53 has nothing there, like just an empty place of the fuse box-not wired, then indeed, strange. Is that the owner's manual you referred to? That should be accurate, if it's the owner's manual. Look closely at that #53
Good luck..

The switch is on the gearbox, But not sure of the exact location for your model. But guess there are not many other wired items on the gearbox.

there could be a short in one of the wires that is poping the fuse so check for bare or exposed wires

I may want to get an OBD-2 code reader it does run scans on the emission sensors( fumes capture, evap, ehxaust recirculation....). there are too many things going on at once to really pinpoint the exact problem. I tried.

I see. Leaves you still looking for the fuse. Might try to find a friendly gent at the Ford dealership service department who could enlighten you. Or use a search feature. I can imagine replacing the switch or sensor for the back up lights in the transmission harness (if that's where it is) could get expensive, so you would want to know it is the problem before you buy it. Well, good luck, J.
