Where is the HVAC box on a 2003 suburban ?

The front A/C does not blow very cold. The driver side is even warmer than the passenger side. The rear A/C is very cold. The freon is fine. The orfice tube may have blockedge. But, since the driver and passenger sides are different. I'm thinking that the blend door may not be operating properly. I need to know how to check it and get to it to remove any blockedge.

Either stuck blend door or a bad blend door actuator motor. It's located under the dash. Remove the actuator and move the door by hand to see if it's binding. If it's free, then the problem is with the actuator or linkage.

SOURCE: 2004 suburban rear a/c only blows hot air

ase mechanic:
there are separate actuators for the blend doors. one for heat and one for cool. they work opposite and in conjuction with each other, if that makes any sense. ones open, ones close, for each different climate. sounds like the the cold one isn't opening in the rear.

SOURCE: front aircond. blows warm. Rear air is cold

this is caused by a defective temperature control blend door actuator motor. Don't overhcahrge the system, if one part of dual climate works ok the problem is not the compressor or the system charge

You need to replace the drivers side temp actuator that is located on the left side of the HVAC box. It is retained by 3 screws and is fairly easy to replace.

Driver siide blows hot and passenger and rear blows cold. Is it driver's side actuator?

Had same problem on my 04 Suburban. Dealer's service dept said the passenger side temp sensor was defective causing the driver side actuator to continuously search. They replace the sensor about 2 months ago and A/C has been working fine ever since. Repair bill was $400+.

1999 Suburban, A/C on warm air from front vents, cold air in rear

The car uses the same freon in the front as it does in the rear. If the rear a/c is working, you either have a plugged evaporator in the front unit, or perhaps a bad heater switch. Try switching the heater to hot and see if it blows even warmer air from the front vents. If so, the heater switch is working and then it sounds like a plugged evaporator or maybe a plugged orifice tube. That is a good place to start looking. Hope this helps.

A/C Problem Tensioner rattling

well if it is the engine i am thinking of that has the small ac belt with the little tensioner on the passenger side bottom area it is most likely the ac clutch is locking up turn the rear air of have some one rev the motor watch the tensioner if it is moving alot banging into another part making the rattle then you might get ready to have to replace the compressor when it gets worse they usually break the tensioner.

Climate control panel

These problems are usually caused by a faulty blend door actuator which controls the position of the air mixing door, and in vehicles with more than one air zone (passenger/driver, front/rear, etc.) there will be a door/actuator for each. These electric blend door actuators are self-calibrating - there is a feedback circuit (wiper type potentiometer) that tells your HVAC control the position of the door. It is not unusual for this potentiometer to wear causing loss of signal at various positions, which then will cause erratic movements of the door (if the circuit fails to open circuit or shorting, the door will default to fully open or closed - i.e. hot or cold air only).
